So I've started to experience a knocking noise coming from what sounds like the trunk (passenger side). It's random and even happens while stopped at a stop light. I intentionally swerve and slam the brakes to rock the car and the knocking is not related. I've searched this forum and all I can find is suspension related issues. What throws me off is that it happens sometimes up to 15 seconds after stopping. Could this be suspension or maybe gas sloshing within the tank? Happens even when the tank if full.

Not sure it's similar to this :

Interesting for sure. I thought about the sub too, but I turned the stereo off and it still makes the knocking noise. I would think that even an old battery can't make the stereo's sub knock when the stereo is off.

How old is the battery?

How old is the battery?

Not sure...I bought the car from the original owner in '17. But would an old battery cause some kind of loud knocking?

Well, I asked usinjin and he didn't replace the battery. The issue solved by itself. Back to square one. :dunno

Thanks for trying Fredo! This is driving me nuts. I'm taking it to a shop to put it up on a lift to look around to see what we see.

I was just curious to check if it could be the culprit. If it was too old it might have been worth replacing either way.

So suspension checked and nothing there. Further investigation revealed a loose connection on the passenger side speaker/ amp. Still weird that it would happen with the radio off, but I guess the amp remains powered.

Out of curiosity, is your ground wire near your driver-side wiper intact?
