Good morning,
Two weeks ago I purchased an 05 Imola coupe with 184K miles. My story: My son wants a career in automotive engineering but had no hands on experience. To get his hands dirty, I bought him a manual 05 325i in exchange for him getting a job his senior year at a dealership working in the service bays. The advice I got was: the E46 is easy to work on; there is a wide universe of parts and support; its relatively safe in a collision. With mostly his own paychecks, he made major repairs to the suspension and then did a complete turbo rebuild. I LOVED driving the 325 even when it groaned and wobbled. My son lobbied me to get an M3 but I gravitated to the ZHP and really liked the vibe of this community I discovered after sighting a "ZHP Mafia" sticker." (Are there any left?) My son is now at college and is power-train team leader of the school's Formula SAE team. My ZHP had two owners - a father then his son who seem to have been BMW enthusiasts. So it it's in pretty good shape. I love working on it and I have in-house help for the big projects. Very happy to be part of the community. (Hope I've successfully loaded a photo of the my car, my son's car, and his photo-bombing little brother).
