Definitely going Meyle this time around. I installed OEM about 10k ago, and the steering wheel is twitching again when I stab the brakes. Are you sure its the new CABs that are shot and not warped rotors? If you waited too long to change the bushing after you started to feel the shimmy during breaking it might have warped your rotors, especially if the current shimmy is a lot less then original. I say this is because that is what happened to me, even though I installed Meyle HD bushing my shimmy stayed although there was improvement. I had to put new set of rotors to completely eliminate it. Just saying, bushings should last a little more than 10k regardless which ones you got.

yep, this is what I'm feeling except I noticed it right away... When I had my diff mount replaced I asked them to check out the front end while it was on the lift... something I can't do laying on the ground. He said that they were reaaly soft and had a Mfr. date of '08

Good point....My rotors are brand new. Also I'm not feeling any shimmy or wobble. Just the classic beat LCAB pulse in the steering wheel when hitting the brakes.

I wish I had the time to swap them out before the road trip.

I feel way, way, way too much of the road. Also....the just kind of slipped onto the control arms....whereas the HD's need to be helped on. Front end just doesn't feel right, and I would bet half a paycheck its the CAB's. JW77(my indy mechanic) is throwing the Meyle's on this week.

Droid + Tapatalk = FTW!

That's good to know. I was thinking about trying them. I use my car to go from site to site every day... don't that in the wheel.

Where did you get the Meyle's? Maybe I'll just overnight them and throw em on the car before I leave.... There is no differnce on ZHP when ordering, no?

what was the exact procedure for the removal of the 330Ci badge?

Thanks, Wash.

Crest Glide Deep Clean Cool Mint Floss took the letters/numbers right off with a little sawing motion. Then I removed the larger pieces of left over adhesive with my fingers and went over it with some Goo Gone.

After that, there was just the slightest visible outline of adhesive where the letters were that I couldn't get off with the Goo Gone and a microfiber, so I broke out the Porter Cable and some Menzerna finishing polish.

Total time was about 15 minutes.

I finished my suspension work today. I had a total FAIL yesterday and could not complete the task. I installed H and R cup kit (touring version). everything was going well until the new springs had to be compressed onto the new struts. I worked at it for 6 hours, with 2 spring compressor kits and could never get it. I went to bed last night worried about what in the hell i had gotten myself into. This was totally new to me, and i had never even watched someone do suspension work. (thats me though, just say F-it, im gonna do it and learn as I go).....Well Huge thanks to Firestone this morning, who hooked me up and compressed the springs for me. They werent even gonna charge me, so i threw the tech $40 for the effort. once i got the struts home, the rest was easy. The rears were a piece of cake. Although I am dissapointed with my failure to compress the springs, I am pretty impressed that I got it all done without anyone's help. Nobody to hold anything, to reach for a tool...nothing. Pure Solo accomplishment. (minus the springs..damnit)

Heh, No fail for the springs dude. they are a bitch with crappy little compressors. I did the same thing when I put in my Koni's... took the struts to my buddies shop. Except I only tried for about a half hour before throwing in the towel.

I look at it this way: not lack of skill... lack of tools...

EDIT: Wish I could do springs but I'm already scraping when I pull in my driveway :mad

Today I did the "turkey baster" flush of some very nasty looking power steering fluid. Covered the area around the reservoir with rags and wound up making no mess at all. Easier than the oil change I did this weekend. Found out I couldn't get the car onto my ramps and had to drive it up on some boards to have enough room underneath.

I did a lot of more work on my ZHP in the past two weeks than I was hoping for. What started as a simple Turbo kit installation instead turned out to be maintenance job from hell.
During the process of gear box removal I busted (broken off) both 12mm gearbox/engine mounts of the engine block. Bolts were over toques and appeared corroded on the end so it would not pull through the tread and busted both off. Had to remove the engine block to have them welded back on. After a few days delay for block repair I replaced the clutch disk (Kevlar) M3 pressure plate and M3 throw out bearing. Lastly I installed Technique Tuning turbo kit. That was the easy part compare to the rest. Running at 6 psi now until I install the EBC sometime after I recuperate from this last fiasco and enjoy this car a little.

Took off that tiny little clip thing on the driver's side wiper blade. It's where the spring is. Just push it forward towards the passenger wiper blade and it pops right off. Only do this if you have bracketless wiper blades (i.e. RainX or Bosch Icons). It'll stop the chattering/skipping, but it may make your non-bracketless wiper blades not work if you don't have those.

Yeah, whats that all about Botond! I thought you were my amber brother from another mother. Sell out! lol.

I don't remember saying I was going to keep ambers forever, I still love ambers and would choose them over clears on almost any color. I went with smoked because it much better matches the theme, though I don't know how well that's going to work out seeing as I made the dumb move of having my new wheels refinished in regular silver...

But David, you might get your wish. I might be going back to ambers, because today I installed the taillights that were supposed to be Red/Smoke/Red... and absolutely HATE them. The idiots sent me a light that is ALL smoked. It's not smoked a lot; light output is almost the same as before, but the red parts are smoked too and I friggin' HATE smoked red. I wanted fully red, with smoked turn signals. Apparently nobody sells them, and when I was looking at Eurosportdesign's site (where I ordered them from), the picture CLEARLY shows a full red, not smoked. The only thing smoked in the pic were the turn signals, and this is exactly what I was looking for.

If I wanted what I just received, I could've ordered from Khoalty for a lot less... :shifty

I HATE these friggin' taillights.

Got it nice and clean for my drive to VA tomorrow :)

...which ended up being completely futile because I think it just started raining. :( Hooray 30% chance of rain!

Also, if you have to get your windshield replaced, do not let them clean your windows on the car. Just do it with Windex later.

The solvent ate directly through my wax near the edges of the windshield. I don't know why. At first I freaked out, thinking he messed up and scratched up my clearcoat.

Bought some Meguiar's Rubbing Compound and Meguiar's Ultimate Wax Paste. Fixed it perfectly! The only issue is spending $20 on some wax and stuff. Oh well; I was going to get it anyway, but I just didn't wanna buy it right now.

So far-
Smoother acceleration
Better throttle response
Idle seems a little smoother too
Definitely pulls harder and the dead spots are gone.
Think it was Dane who said he'd pay double? I concur. Great mod.

I rolled my fenders was running 15 mm rear and 20 mm in the front. I had a little rub that I could not roll out. I ended switching to 15mm in the front and 12 mm in the rear no rub. The wheels were really flush. I am on H&R cup kit with Race springs

I had Bosch Icons, I got rid of them after the Mafia Meet. They drove me up the wall in the rainstorm on the way home. Two hours of this loud "slap, slap, slap, slap, slap" almost every time the blade flipped for the downswipe. What made it more annoying is when it didn't make the noise, because then I couldn't at least get used to the noise since it was random.

I refunded them from Amazon and got BMW Evo Flat blades from the dealer. $15 more, and they are infinitely better. Totally dead-silent, work even better than the Icons, and the wiper blade arm seems to support the blade itself which eliminates chattering.

Yup, pretty much. Having someone fully detail your car is like...crazy expensive. You can do it yourself for a grand total of $35 and a few hours. $12 for polishing compound, $15 for wax, and $8 for a good six pack :)

I washed and applied Liquid Glass to mine for the 2nd time. The previous owned used automated car washes on mine and there was residue building up on the lower 3rd of the doors and rocker panels. I got all that contamination off with WD-40 before I applied the LG last time.

At any rate... Today I made a promise to my car: From here on out it will always be hand washed and will never see an automated carwash again for as long as we both shall live...

Last weekend a bit more PM.

Ritual Oil Change, its been about 8k mi so past time for me. Now I get to look up the code clear routine (first time I get to do it - just came off warranty)

New spark plugs. It was much easier than expected. I have to say, so far everything I have done to this car has been relatively easy considering access to common parts, ease of removal, etc.

Here are what plugs look like around 100k mi (unless they did a plug change at 40k mi when I bought it CPO).

I was actually looking at what i thought were normal 'scratches' on my hood today that I remember having for a while, but were definitely not there when i got the car.

After really looking at them in the sun, i concluded that they were marks from a key. So i got keyed. Don't know when..but it was a while ago so idk. I noticed a distinct X on my hood and about a 2 inch scratch down after that. Then about a 3 inch one on my trunk. They weren't deep at all.. so i go out mothers scratch remover and went to work. I think I got them for the most part...but i'm unsure. i hate people.

Took care of the my sagging A pillars (again). I had done them about a year ago with the wrong glue.

This time I used the 3M - 90 stuff and instead of re-stretching/ gluing the old material, I got some black material at a local fabric store.

Here you go: a la Dane (I believe Dane had done something like that on the old Tiag).

Yea, it looks like you might be running a little rich... Even at 100k, the plug's insulator should be light brown in color.. 100K is time to change O2 sensors..

I should have described the plugs a bit since the exposure makes them look much darker.
When viewing in daylight, the deposits were more a light-gray with definite yellowish/green tinge to the grayness.

And the butt-dyno reads at least a 5-10 hp improvement!!

Now if only they had that nifty sticker, I could have gained another Hp or two!!

Not much info on how to use. What I did was coat everything under the hood (paint to) and then waited a couple of hours and wiped off the excess. The engine bay rivals new now! I did clean most of the underside hood area first. It is not cheap ($11.00 a can with shipping) but amazing results.

Yep, Just spay it on everything because it's also a protective coating. Hoses, aluminum, painted surfaces, everything ...You can wipe it off right away... No need to hosedown the engine bay first, if there is s a lot of dirt just wipe it off the best you can and then spary.
You can slo use it on the interior plastic as well... any hard plastic like the kick panels door sills plastic by the seat controls, hard plastic on the steeering wheel hub, etc. Just wipe the excess off. or sray it on a rag and use it like that

You can also check with you local motorcycle shop to see if they have it because it's really for motorcycles... My local shop has it for $9.00

BP will be taking pics while I'm doing this mod...We were thinking of making up a detailed "ribbon" OEM M3 side mirror retrofit DIY since there's limited information on the subject. I know from helping BP sort out his passenger side mirror, there were moments of "frustration" until we got it to work.

I'd like to share with the community so I think this will be a good first DIY. The next DIY I'm planning to do is the ZKW FX-R retrofit since my passenger ZKW bowl is getting burned out. Getting close to a point where I will have to replace the headlight anyway and since I have a set of FX-R projectors here...I figured why not use these to retrofit my headlights...:biggrin

Okay then, I will be working on the OEM M3 ribbon motor retrofit DIY. I plan to have lots of pics and explanations. Some of them being "FYI" so others trying to do this mod will know what's in store for them. Hopefully this DIY will be easy to follow and help others who will like to do this. I had BP follow me this morning and I can tell you that this is one sick mod...:drool

For those who are timid I will try to explain every step so that it is easy to follow. For me, pictures is everything so when reading each step an associated pic will really help here....

When I get this DIY done with BP's help, any feedback will be appreciated. :thumbsup Everyone, please bear with me as time is not a luxury I currently have. I'm in finals for my current college term and with a 40 hr work week it's been hectic...:biggrin

DIY will eventually be posted though :thumbsup

I GOT MY M3 MIRRORS TO WORK! After a year of having the car and not having working mirrors, THEY ARE BOTH FUNCTIONAL!
The driver's side started working not too long ago, but the adjustments are off (the mirror moves diagonally), but the passenger side now has a new motor (which I paid through the nose for). I adjusted the positioning, as the old motor was maladjusted as well (also moved diagonally in the 1cm distance it did move). Spent quite a lot of time trying to get it seated properly, but with Charlie's help, we prevailed! Thanks so much C...

Personally, I have found DIS/GT1 absolutely useless. I couldn't get it to communicate with my car at all, and I am able to do whatever I want with the other suite of software (NCS Expert, INPA, and eventually WinKFP).

PM me for the translations for NCS Expert.
