Just mentioned a quick and fiscally conservative option. There are always better/more expensive ways to do things. Like many of us...what happened to him was unplanned, as mentioned above. I have had my Wheelskin for over a year and am still happy with it. Will do it mote better/more expensive, when that's a priority for me.

I was planning on a re-wrap soon.. but not this soon. Oh well... The steering wheel feels all crusty and gross now..

I wish I took a pic of it before. The wheel was mostly just all fabric all held together by grease and the only way I can describe it is almost like leather. Long drives would be terrible because my hands would sweat and all.

Like I said before, I planned on getting a new wrap soon anyways. This was kinda a test run of what I can and can't do on my new wheel & fabric. I did probably scrub too hard in hopes of bringing the fabric back up. I have seen DIY's where this happens, and you use the fabric shaver to get rid of the extra fabric like at the top of my wheel. The color discoloration..was NOT planned though lol. Next time I'll be using a new,clean cloth

Had to opportunity to put an offer in on some BBS CK today... Some doctor came in work (bmw dealer) with an 01 330 and he had the CK's on them. He told the tech that he was going to sell them because he hits too many potholes with them. Then when I was walking around wasting time, i said how it's a shame that they aren't sqeaky clean..and that I wish I had some BBS rims, so he told me about what the owner said.

Turns out that he does hit a lot of pot holes. All 4 were bent and they all had a good amount of brake dust on them.

Anyone know a crazy number to throw at him? Another tech asid that since they're all bent ($100/wheel to fix), he wouldn't offer more than $300 for them

yup with patience and manipulation I was able to pop it out the front as per suggestion I used the rustoleum paint and it went on well and looks to match the car nicely I will get some pics when installed

Good to know. So, you just push from behind and it literally pops out the front? Nothing to remove? Do you need to bend it some? Also, what about replacing it... just as easy?

Something seemed a little missing about my headlight restoration, I wasn't happy with the overall clarity. I took out my old Turtle Wax restoration kits and used the ultra-fine grit sandpaper (#3 and 4, I have no idea what grit but...really really fine). I went left-to-right, then up and down with 3 and 4, respectively. I then used the clarifying compound and 3 coats of PlastX with relatively hard pressure. Wiped off between each coat. Finished off with 2 coats of Maguires Carnauba wax, and I'm happy with how they turned out :) It seriously makes the car look so much newer.

haven't reinstalled yet but plan to use a hair dryer to get the plastic warm and pliable and pop it back through the front, I used a gloss black and did 2 coats I attached a photo

nope the clips are pretty solid and it came off really easily... the reinstall is gonna be the test though

There was a DIY here on this site with a youtube clip from BAVAUTO, I used a micarta scraper and went outward with both grilles. I did not have to split this grilles and the new ones went in in reverse fashion from outside in starting at top and it snapped right in. Removing the right grille facing the trunk I cracked lower left tab but none broke off.

if ya look at the picture I posted you can see where the clips attach to the bumper I started in the middle and worked my way out applying pressure and slowly increasing it until the clip let go I did the top in the same fashion

make sure that plastic is nice and warm so its easily pliable and don't rush did you spray the piece behind it too? if so putting the two pieces back in together seemed to be easiest for me

I ended up getting both pieces out.....clipping the two pieces together....then I have the entire unit in there. Two bottom outer clips are clipped. That's it. 2/8 FML.

I have a little "hook" tool i made out of a cheap long screwdriver I bent with a vice and taped with electrical tape to keep it from ruining paint. get it behind the grill and piece behind it and pull the whole thing towards you to get it to clip back on

you might want to try unscrewing the plastic guard under your engine so you can reach in there and push from behind. IDK...

What did I do today.... finally put that piece of half-width electrical tape around the seal of the DISA. After reading the Rajaie's tips I'd tried it twice before but couldn't get the 13-year-old electrical tape to stick. Then I remembered I had a roll of new electrical tape in the toolbox. It happens to be orange, similar to the built-in DISA seal. Cut an 8" piece then sliced in half lengthwise. This stuck well enough to let me reinstall the DISA. Was my DISA leaking air before? Dunno. But whether it was a real problem or not, it feels good that "I took care of it."

Also installed the aFe scoops.

Pretty good idea on the DISA. Another method is to just apply a light film of non-hardening Permatex...

Did this last weekend (painted the rims a month ago). They were in very crappy shape and look better black, but I don't love the way it looks. I will love it as I don't notice how filthy they are once the major winter storms hit. Ideally, I'd have a set of 68s for winter use. And looking at these, perhaps a flat anthracite color would have worked well.

Process:
sand wheels with I forget what type of sandpaper (paint can told me which)
1 coat of satin black
2 coats of flat black
2 coats of flat clear

Got the paint from walmart - I think it was krylon. We'll see if it holds up. All is good so far.

AND I cleaned the hell outa my wheel wells. No pics.

Yessuh. Fronts are wintersport M3s, and rears are blizzak LM-25s. I know one shouldn't mix brands like that, but I had no choice when the car came with two brand new LM-25s, and they were only made in runflat at the time. So I went with a close tire and the sky hasn't fallen down yet.

Dane, We have this stuff at work called Tire Acid.. which is pretty much this stuff called "wheel brightener"

It cleans brake dust like a champ..and doesn't cost nearly as much as sonax. IMO, it's cheaper and easier. Today I cleaned an e46 at work that had wheels caked in dust..and a good soaking with that and then some pressured water (we use a hose now) and it comes right off. Sometimes takes another quick spray to get the left overs if you're picky. It's a good thing to look in to

I was a little careless when parking today :(

As I was parking it I accidentally scuffed the bottom splitter.. I'll have to give the insurance folks a call and tell them I was hit by road debris, hopefully they will respray the whole front end and not just the bumper. But I will have to pay $100 deductible.

Just wait til you destroy the bumper. I know it sounds bad but you'll probably hit something again requiring a respray. For now just live with it IMO.

Ugh, the entire front of the underside of my bumper looks like that. It's awful. I want to refinish it so badly but I cannot even imagine the cost. I wish my bumper were in better condition. I bet it'd be cheaper just to find a used M-Tech II bumper in Silbergrau Metallic.

My foglights are super pitted too. Seriously, wherever the original owner had this car was an absolute nightmare of roads. Lots of tiny little rock dings on the front, but noticeable only close. I've been trying to figure out the best way to tackle that.

Did this last weekend (painted the rims a month ago). They were in very crappy shape and look better black, but I don't love the way it looks. I will love it as I don't notice how filthy they are once the major winter storms hit. Ideally, I'd have a set of 68s for winter use. And looking at these, perhaps a flat anthracite color would have worked well.

Process:
sand wheels with I forget what type of sandpaper (paint can told me which)
1 coat of satin black
2 coats of flat black
2 coats of flat clear

Got the paint from walmart - I think it was krylon. We'll see if it holds up. All is good so far.

AND I cleaned the hell outa my wheel wells. No pics.

It's been a while and I'm behind on updates.

After a few months of waffling, I'm finally putting my order in for a new set of tires. I'm keeping the stock 135s and ordering some Continental DWSs Kumho Ecsta 4X (just found out the rear Conti's are backordered for the immediate future). I'll post up pics after the install.

I also ordered some wiper blade refills and a new fog lamp surround from ECS, which should show up this week. We finally got some rain around here, and I realized then the wipers were teh suck!

No need to sell. You can purchase those spray water repellant in cans and do the top of the Noah where the main source of rain usually sits. And after spraying, let it dry out for 24 hrs. to let it soak. It will be good as new. But do not spray with the Noah over the car. Find a place or table aand chairs to lay it out under the sun. You can get those repellant from any outdoor stores. Noah comes from factory with rain repellant. But over time, they deteriorate. I did the same to my Noah. I used 2 cans.

not sure i understand what you're saying. the cover itself is made of a fabric material that soaks through. the cover gets so sopping wet it sticks to the car. fortunately we did not reach freezing temps last night or i would not have been able to separate the cover from the car itself (the implications for the car's paint...i do not want to imagine). think i'm just gonna buy a better cover (and do more research this time).

Yep, that's the stuff. I've found that it really brings out the dolphin color in Silvergrey-Metallic. I'll get compliments on it at the gas station from time-to-time after I've washed it.

Today I got my spacers and a new shift knob in.
Ever since I installed the UUC SSK, the knob has been loose, so I FINALLY reaplaced it with a ZHP knob from Turner. I was VERY pleased with the new knob when I took it out of the box. Its truly a beautiful piece. I didn't realize how worn the leather on my stock one was. Also, and I found this strange, the new know was markedly heavier than the stock one. Almost twice as heavy. I didn't weigh them, but the site says how much the new one weighs. I'm gonna throw the old one on a scale the next chance I get for a comparison. The new knob makes driving the car so much better. Love it.
Oh, and the Turner spacers are very high quality and fir perfectly. I chose 15mm all around. Looks killer. I will get pics when its daylight.

I also replaced a bulb and cleaned my MAF. I have a happy ZHP right now..

it is an appearance preference, especially when looking at the car from the side like in your sig the rear wheels would stick out abit more

it can also adjust for wheels with non-oem offset. obviously always want to run wheels that are the right fitment for the car, but if they aren't made for whatever reason you can adjust it with spacers.

also used to clear coilovers or suspension components in certain cases, etc.

I love the wider stance. I am a little concerned, though. I rubbed a couple of times in the rear on the way home (loaded down with my old wheels and tires). I'm not sure that isn't a suspension, rather than an offset issue. Does my rear end look saggy (all obvious jokes aside)? I'm wondering if my rear shocks are simply worn.

Jason, That looks awesome! You should want to roll your fenders. The offset is 37 in the rear and 34 in the front. That should clear up any rubbing issues. The wheels are identical to the 135s except for the offset so there is no change in ride height, just a more flush wheel.

Last night 2 bilstein sport front struts were installed up front. Today I dropped off my ZHP-wannabe at the BMW dealer for a little bit of random maintenance: an alignment, trans & diff fluid change, Complimentary: wiper inserts & a vacuum/wash combo. Out the door $400, with a loaner...2011 328i xdrive, lacking left most pedal. I was unimpressed and a little disheartened. But my 325 Feels goooooood and I was happy to get it back :)

can you take a quick pic? I can help point you to a DIY if you would like to give it a try. I did mine for the most part...and I hate getting dirty anymore. Its pretty easy on these cars. The dealer will most likely start at 1 hr. checkout to give you an idea of whats failed, unless you tell them to replace ______. Then its sometimes a different story. Some dealers will let you just replace what ever you tell them too, others require that they diagnose it before they will replace anything. Average labor here in cbus is $129/hr for BMW :(

At a dealer? I'd say around $400-$500USD if it's just the expansion tank.

Depends what it is. If it is just leaking from the expansion tank, you could do it yourself for about $80. I k now you are pissed but they are going to hit you over the head for an easy DIY. Even if it is a hose or water pump leaking it is really not that hard to do yourself. Kpro is right though, don't let it go as these aluminum blocks don't do well with heat. Good luck. If you decide to DIY let us know we will talk you through it.

Yeah, there's a thread on it around here somewhere. I'll find it when I get to my computer. It's a fairly involved process though...

We were trying to remove the water pump pulley. I was lying under the car and prying on it with a "pickle fork" when it slipped off and hit the radiator. The ding was minor looking. Apparently it wasn't.

Damn...I yanked my Water Pump off at the reunion and smashed the pulley mount into the fins. No issues so far, although when I was going through my huge coolant loss phase, I was always thinking that was a potential issue.

Completed ZKW retrofit with E90 bowls, washed the car and cleaned the wheels (thanks Keith for the foam brush tip:headbang), and just got back in from aligning the headlights! No more shadows in front of me when there is a car behind me at stop lights! I'll have more details in the DIY thread in a bit...

I had it inspected at a local indy shop, then I registered it at the MTO. Then I went for my first drive down the back roads in it. Thennn I gave it the first wash and vacuum! Today was a very good day!

Well I had my front rotors turned and got new rotors on the back of the car as well as new brake pads on the rear...def is a lot smoother...I had a really bad viration when I braked.

worked on the '02 today... brake and clutch fluid changed, but seems like some of the seals are bad. Might need a new clutch slave cylinder. The ZHP needs a wash, will do that in the morning before I go to Steve's house and work on the '02 some more
