I'm having trouble finding a VIN decoder that gives me enough information to know whether or not a car I'm looking at is a true ZHP.
Has anyone found a decoder that works or they are happy with?
I appreciate your help. Thanks!

Sweet! That's pretty slick. And it's really detailed.
Thank you, Fredo!
I found this thread...
http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?169-BMW-Option-Codes
In there is a post from nk_zhp where these options are listed:
226 SPORTS SUSPENSION SETTINGS
710 M LEATHER STEERING WHEEL
716 M AERODYNAMICS PACKAGE II
760 INDIVIDUAL HIGH-GLOSS SATIN CHROME
767 PERFORMANCE-PACKAGE
772 INTERIOR TRIM ALU BLACK CUBE
775 INDIVIDUAL ROOF-LINING ANTHRACITE
787 M LT/ALY WHEELS DOUBLE SP.135 W MIXED T.
With these, the implication is your car is a ZHP. Is this true?
As a side note, now I need to find the history of the car. Next to 'Service History' in the VIN check, in all caps and red type, it says, "!!CHECK HISTORY!!" Good grief. Maybe the seller has a CarFax.

Looks like mdecoder has been replaced with this one:
https://new.mdecoder.com
You need to register and pay for the reports. One guy in the e90 forum says you can do 5, 10, 20, 40, 100.
100 cost $25 euros.

interesting....... with both VIN decoders I use not working for the last month, I gave mdecoder.com a try on 8/15 and it worked! Thought we were good to go!
But just read your post and tried it again today...... no bueno. Hard to believe we're going to have to start paying....

This one still works. I tried earlier, you need to enter the whole VIN:

Thanks Fredo, just tried it and compared it to the file I created from the same Bimmer.work in 2017. Worked great.... but.....2 things to note...........
using your link, this version today:
1) says my car is an automatic (wrong!), the 2017 version said "MECH" which I assumed meant 6MT (which it is)
2) says my interior is Leder Montana/basis-ausst./schwarz - N6SW, the 2017 version said Standardleder/schwarz - N6SW

That's odd. My 2005 ZHP shows with "transmission = manual" which is correct. The upholstery shows like yours. :dunno

I found an '06 with the following codes:
226 SPORTS SUSPENSION SETTINGS
710 M LEATHER STEERING WHEEL
716 M AERODYNAMICS PACKAGE II
760 INDIVIDUAL HIGH-GLOSS SATIN CHROME
767 PERFORMANCE-PACKAGE
770 INTERIOR TRIM TRIPS, ALU SILER CUBE
787 M LT/ALY WHEELS DOUBLE SP.135 W MIXED T
This one is a convertible/automatic. It doesn't have the 772 code (Interior Trim Alu Black Cube) and it doesn't have the 775 code (Individual Roof Lining Anthracite) presumably because it's a soft top. This is a ZHP, yes?

Yup, it's a ZHP, the 767 code is indicative of that. Presumably it doesn't have black cube, because it has 770 for silver cube instead. I'm not sure about it not having 775 but that would make sense given it's a vert.

Yes it's a ZHP = code 767
It says you have the silver trim. code 770 which you've listed.
My vert doesn't list code 775 either but it has a roof liner

Thanks Pedro!
BTW, is an automatic trans a huge minus on a ZHP? I would rather an MT but this seems like a good deal so far.

These automatics are before the time they were smooth enough and fast enough to have any kind of benefit, and they're worse on gas. The ZHP falls into the generation where manuals were still better than automatics, which isn't the case with today's cars.

and there's a rarity factor also. In the US, 6MT's accounted for only 19% of all the convertibles, so they're a bit harder to come by
you can see how rare a car is by it's particular body style, transmission type, and the interior and exterior color here in the production data - see post #1 http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?13839-BMW-ZHP-Production-Numbers/page2

Auto vert were by far the most produced of the verts. I have one, put Dinan Step s/w on it, sprint booster, and paddle shifts (among other mods). Makes it more fun to drive, but still ok in the infamous LA traffic. Agree, manuals are much better for these cars. The auto isn't bad, just not as quick as modern paddle shifters.

I looked at a ZHP last night, looked very clean. The VIN is WBAEV53415KM08292 but that decoder at the beginning of this thread doesn't find that number. Fake??? Is there another decoder someone is using that will find that number?

Hmm...weird. Thanks for running that for me. But no 767 code? Not an actual ZHP, correct?
