2016 Mustang GT - My Dream Car

As most of you already know, I am obsessed with Mustangs. I have always liked them, but when the 2005's came out something triggered in me and I became OBSESSED! I always loved Ford's growing up in Michigan, and my Grandfather was an Engineer at Ford and my uncle just retired from Ford as an Engineer.

I could go on and on about how much I love Mustangs and how badly I've wanted one, but I'll just fast forward to the good stuff. After wanting one for almost 15 years, I was finally in a place to get one! I have been searching for over a year. I had a few options I had to have. It had to be Deep Impact Blue and a GT Performance Pack. I really wanted a red or brown interior, but they are damn near impossible to find. I only found one with a brown interior while looking every day for a year. That one was not in great condition.

So I found a 2016 GT Performance Pack with 10,000 miles on it, but a black interior. I can deal with a black interior for a car with 10,000 miles and CPO'd with a 7 year/100,000mi warranty. So I flew down to Florida to pick up the car I have been dreaming of for YEARS! I was nervous/excited/anxious/ and somehow all at the same time just calm. It didn't really hit me and still hasn't. First "mod" was getting Apple CarPlay working. I had to swap out the USB port in the center console and now it works!

All the pictures were taken with my iPhone. I haven't had a chance to do a proper photoshoot with this car yet! Soon though!

I LOVE THIS CAR! The power is awesome and the brakes are incredible! I am so glad it is everything I dreamed of and then some! It would have been awful if I wanted one for all these years and then didn't like it!

Congrats! I love those new Mustangs! And that is one sweet color. Had thoughts on getting one before setting my sights on a ZHP. I think the ZHP makes more financial sense for me at this point :) But that Mustang looks so good... PM me if you want to sell your ZHP.

Thank you! I'm not really a fan of racing stripes on this body style...except on the G350's!

I'll post a comparison when I'm not at work and can actually post a longer review. Let me just put it this way, I haven't driven the ZHP in 3 weeks.

Keeping the ZHP would have been so smart financially, but screw it! The ZHP will be up for sale soon! I need to fix the window regulator and put in a new headliner first.

A friend let me drive his GT350, and that was a BAD IDEA!! Almost made me do very stupid financial things! That car was awesome!

The '16 5.0 is a much more refined car. I think you're going to love the power and handling. You don't get that German engineering, but still... 435hp is a lot of fun!

I'm a former Mustang owner and I like what they've done with the styling. It's a far cry from what I used to drive...

I was a Ford guy since high school... still love the the blue oval even though our stable is BMW, Mini and Honda.
Everyone used to give me a hard time. I always wear that Ford Performance jacket in the picture in the first post, but I have never owned a Ford until now! My family always has though!

Thanks! I am learning to love the black interior. The Natural Brown interior in my ZHP has spoiled me when it comes to colored interiors!

The brakes may be more addicting than the power! And the power is crazy. It is not the fastest thing out there, but it is the fastest car I've ever owned. The sound of the V8 makes it really hard to keep your foot out of it.

I'm averaging 16-18mpg.....

My '67 Cougar at Maple Grove Raceway, early 80's. I'm pretty sure it had the 351 Cleveland with the 4bbl heads and 4.57 gears in this pic... I had 4 different engines in this car and many different gear ratios... My blood was Ford blue during this time ;)

I love it! Really cool seeing you guys post your past cars! Love the SVO! Can't blame you for going to Porsches! My brother-in-law is a service adviser at Hennessey Porsche here in Atlanta, so I often stop by and check them out. Nice cars! We went out to Rennsport last year and it was a blast!

My dad always tells me this story about his Mustang he bought brand new. He always says, "It was the most expensive Mustang they had ever had on the lot! It had EVERY option!" He is very proud of that for some reason! I think he also owned an SVO at one point too!

I feel like everyone has owned a Mustang at one point, or at least wanted one! Seems everyone who has owned one has owned multiple. One of these days I'll get a classic. Maybe a nice 70 Fastback!

This is why I love this forum. I posted this on forums I have been on for YEARS and not much interest. I post on here saying I'm selling my BMW and got a new car, and everyone chimes in! I wont be leaving this forum! <3

So a few weeks ago I had Paint Protection Film installed on the car. The areas that were covered were:
Front bumper
Entire front fenders
Entire hood
Headlights
fog lights
turn signals
Mirror caps
Door Cups
Large section in front of the rear wheels.

When I got that installed I mentioned that I was going to be adding black badges down the road. So Derek from Atlanta Protective Films (can't speak highly enough about their work. Great guy and did an awesome job!) said he would remove the badges for me and install the film without the "5.0" cutout on the fender. The reason was that the film may peel up on the edge if I pulled off the badges down the road. So I needed to change the badges because I didn't like the holes in my fenders!


Yes I still have the BMW. I'm collecting some parts for it to fix a few little cosmetic issues before I make the official for sale ad.

The front Pony emblem, side 5.0 emblems, and the rear GT emblem were all changed to the OEM Ford Black Appearance Package badges.
