View Full Version : Quickjack 5000slx
I purchased a quickjack model 5000slx from Costco. This is the lowest price that I was able to find online with free shipping. Final cost delivered was $1099.
Costco was able to drop ship the order from the manufacturer and it delivered to me in 1 business day via UPS ground.
Upon delivery it was 3 packages. Box 1 and Box 2 are the lifting frames and box 3 is the pump and accessories.
Box 3 included the hoses, 2 different sets of blocks and the package of quick disconnect fittings. Also included is the Teflon tape needed for installation.
I will say the packaging of the items and the quality is much nicer then I was expecting.

Excellent price. I paid $1000 for my 3500-SLX and it was a great deal. I think the 5000-SLX was $1500 at the time. I love how light the 3500 is, but I would gladly pay another $100 to get the extra length and capacity of the 5000. I have to be real careful when setting up the 3500 because the ends don't quite reach the lift points on the e46.

frig.
porsche not included, i'm guessing?
i'm out.
j/k. this is huge on my want list. costco is the best price for them up here, too.
Assembly post and pictures.
From start to finish took me about 2 hours. Took my time and read the instruction book. Btw it is pretty good as far as steps and pictures. Mine said revision December 2017
All the lines and fittings are quick disconnect. Some have o-rings on them and some require the use of Teflon tape. Quality is pretty impressive which I thought was going to lack.
Overall it does not feel cheap and I am impressed.

Is there enough ground clearance to leave the QJ on the floor and drive over it (on a daily basis...)?There might be since they are pretty slim. Not sure if it's worth the risk?
I can try it on a stock ride height vehicle and one that is lowered.

Is there enough ground clearance to leave the QJ on the floor and drive over it (on a daily basis...)?Yes, 100%. Plenty of room. You just have to slide the tracks to the center. Mine lives on the floor and I use the grab brackets that come with it to pull the tracks out from under the middle of the car when I want to use it.

Increased safety was my number one reason for wanting it, but it also eliminates any dependence on the front-center lift point which F'd up my original front sub-frame brace.

:rofl
The safety aspect of it is really nice even though my Esco flat top stands are pretty great too.
But the ability to raise the vehicle off the ground on all 4 corners and not have it be a pain ( like it is with the E46 ) is awesome. I always hated trying to jack up each corner of the car and then find a location that is safe enough to stick a jack-stand under.
ZHPizza

The safety aspect is the main reason I got mine as well. I was under the car one day tightening the front under brace bolts to yield while the car was creaking around on jack stands and thought "you know, when this car comes down on me, I probably won't think that $1k is too much to spend on a lift." Ordered it that night.
Vas, I'll give you a little tip that I learned along the way. In your video, see that the front end raises up long before the rear? I started accommodating for this by adjusting my lifting block situation. For one, I didn't like how gummy the lifting blocks were on the frame pads and wanted to shore them up a bit, but I also wanted the rear block to be a little higher than the front to give it an even lift at all four wheels.
I now use a small rubber block and a piece of 2x4 in front, with the large rubber block and piece of 1x4 in the rear. It gives a perfectly even lift (on stock suspension) so that all four tires leave/touch the ground at the same time. Makes it much better when I'm lowering it down to torque the wheel bolts and can stop it at one point where all four tires are on the concrete enough to keep the wheel from spinning, but not enough to throw off my fitment.

I paid $1099 for the unit less then 30 days ago. So Costco is able to price match and refund me the difference of $100. Just something to be aware of.
The current price of $999 shipped is such a good deal. Don't pass it up if you are wanting a quickjack.
BTW, Recently I did some work on my winter vehicle which is a 4300 pound suv. The quickjack lifted the vehicle high enough using both blocks without a hiccup.

Things like tire rotations or swapping out wheels is much easier now.
However on a lowered vehicle I was not able to slide the quick jack under the car and then put the 2" blocks on. Had to drive up on a small plank of wood to get enough clearance for the front. Not a biggie though. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181217/60752c6cc59390ea81f2a3892e041a48.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181217/c8f07c033b90c8858c4bf2cc7d01c115.jpg

I’m surprised there’s an issue with height with H&R springs, which I thought only lowered an inch or less. I have plenty of space under my stock ZHP for my Quickjack 7000. I bet you could find thinner rubber blocks that would work.

$60 membership for you and 1 household member ( the wife for me). Free delivery 7-10 days. Membership is instantaneous and you can order immediately. I was a member for years at Costco, but when the kids were all out of the house we dropped the membership. Costco had the best customer service I'd ever experienced, they resolved any issue I ever had without issue
Don't have that experience with Home Depot, so I went with Costco. Plus we can now shop for a year and enjoy some other discounts

Yeah the wife is probably going to have a fit but I pulled the trigger too. I needed the 7000SLX because of the X5 (it is right at 5000 lbs and wanted a little extra) and Costco didn't offer that model, just the 5000SLX so it was Home Depot at $1229 with free delivery. It should work fine on the E46 and X5 and also ordered the SUV and light truck adapter kit that will give me an additional 6" of lift on the X5. Home Depot wanted $225 for the SUV extension kit but QuickJack sold it for $210 but got nailed the difference in shipping.
Anyway, added to the $580 Black Friday trip to Harbor Freight for the 20 ton press and air compressor this morning and the $160 trip to Lowes, I had better make myself a nice area on the couch for the next couple of days. nono

Anyway, added to the $580 Black Friday trip to Harbor Freight for the 20 ton press and air compressor this morning and the $160 trip to Lowes, I had better make myself a nice area on the couch for the next couple of days. nono

That works too! I do have some side by side wall space behind the press and to the right with a wall mount and is what will probably happen initially. Just standing vertical with the weight support on the floor with some Fastrack bracket from Lowes to secure them to the wall.

I ordered the 7000SLX from Home Depot, I don't have a Costco membership.
Now I have a new dilemma. I never thought to go out and measure anything (I based my decision on weight only) and though the SLX will fit the E46 no problem, it is a couple inches short on the X5. So I have an email in to Taylor at Bendpak to see if we can swap for the 7000EXT with the price difference paid. I can always buy the extenders but I will have 2 more rails to store and it is just a band-aid for the EXT I should have anyway.
The max lift point spread on the 5000/7000SLX is 60" and the X5 lift points are 62.5" center to center. 35949
Minimum lift points on the SLX is 31.5" and the minimum lift points on the EXT is 37.7" and our E46 lift points are 48.5" center to center. The max lift points on the 5000/7000EXT is 66" and the rails on the 7000EXT are only 6.5" longer (3.25" on each end) will easily fit the wheelbase and should work on both my cars.
And yes, I do know just a little French, I have raced Le Mans 6 times so France is not really new to me but my wife has never been there so she will love it.

Duh... right, you said Home Depot, not Costco.... I had the Costco discount on my brain, maybe I should pay attention
LeMans 6 times... I'm speechless. Respect. Sounds like there are some great experiences in France for you.
And, I've always just used "je ne par pal francais, parle vous english?" when I'm in France. Would usually get a smile, and likely find out they spoke perfect English anyway. Important to respect that Europeans usually have made the effort to learn English as a 2nd language, but most of us ignorant Americans typically only speak one language and still expect that if we just talk louder they'll respond to us..... :talktome
My experience has been that expecting everyone to speak English when I travel is a bad plan...

You are exactly correct. I have raced all around the world and I find if you at least attempt to speak the native language without butchering it, people will almost always be happy to help you with your question or needs. The population tends to be more rude in the big cities but I guess the same can be said here in the states in the larger metropolitan areas. :scratchinghead
I'm anxious to get a call in to Bendpak when they open today to see where my failed order ends up going. I really need the EXT instead of the SLX to be the correct tool in my garage.

They've apparently been there for at least 24 hours since my neighbor decided to tell me he saw them out there last night. Dump $1,000+ worth of stuff at the street??? C'mon man...... Actually tucked away but, less than three miles from downtown Huntsville, AL. Two mile long street, the highest on the hill from this side of town and ends at the farm three doors down.
We haven had a trick or treater yet and do some Christmas decorations. If I get inspired some year, I may put a huge star way up on the back of our property that could be seen for miles from the valley below. I’d probably need 500-600 feet of extensions cord to get to it though!

and for the final 2 fittings to the power unit, you need to remove the 2 threaded covers. The video shows they guy simply unscrewing them by hand, but mine were on tight. So 13mm there (the video shows that a slotted screwdriver would also work, but my caps don't have the slots for a screwdriver)

Noticing that you have your frames facing in the opposite direction from mine (and the video). I have seen them both ways and I agree it is a simple decision to lift forward or backward. I have bicycles on the wall in front of the X5 so it would have limited my movement around the front of the engine bay so I chose to lift rearward. The E46 can lift forward if I want, nothing up there but the access to the house with plenty of room.

I improvised, but I've also ordered the BL-5000SLX/7000SLX EXTENSION KIT, which should get me to 66" which is just what it needs. Scheduled to arrive today!
But to your point about the thinner blocks, if you ever decide to get the extention kit, be aware that it increases the Jack height by 1.5" and would need to be a consideration if used on lower long wheelbase cars/trucks

So I had to call them too, and found out they had fat fingered my address in the shipment. No problem... They've shipped another one to me on 2/18. But when I got the new shipping notification, I saw they had a different wrong address! So I called again, and they say they have it corrected.

I've used the truck extenders on my SUV's and they work great and give good extra lift. You can see them in this picture. And now with the extensions, I'll get another 1.5" !!

Mine came with 4 short and 4 tall as well, just not the super short 38mm ones. Looking at the specs for all the models, it lists 4 2" blocks and 4 3" blocks included in the kits.

Still no call back from BendPak. I wonder what the shipping costs to send back 150-200 lbs. They may just wash it as it may be as much as they have in it. Fingers crossed I have another QuickJack just for the E46.
Shouldn't be that much if they are shipping that weight all the time. But I hope you get to keep the extra too lol

Upper 40's here in the Northeast today and Spring fever is setting in! Beautiful day.... Throw open the garage doors and clean up. And 60's tomorrow, but still too soon to get the vert out of storage. April.. I can make it :(
So while waiting for that kind of weather, I thought I'd try out the frame extension kit, so here it is lifting my Edge to check the rear brakes. Frame extender drops right into the slots of the Quickjack BL-5000SLX/7000SLX with longer slots to move the pads around. Worked well. Didn't get to gain the extra 1.5" lift that it provides because I had to shorten the Truck Adapter by that much to slide it under the jack points. Oh well
And I still put 4 jackstands just outside the ends of the Quickjack, just because.....

Heads Up: When lowering the QJ into the locking position make sure to release all of the pressure before disconnecting the hoses. This is the first time I've encountered this problem. After doing some brake work I went to lower my M3 and could not get the hoses to reconnect. I called QJ and was told to hold the "down" button while reconnecting the hoses. This worked on one side but not the other so I had to slightly raise the lift with a bottle jack to relieve some of the pressure on the system to get the hose connected. I do believe it was my error and not the QJ malfunctioning. Very stressful situation.

Interesting, thanks for that. Good to know. Turns out none of my projects have been more than a day, so I haven't ever disconnected the hydraulic hoses once raised. But I always lower the jack down to the stops to take the pressure off the hydraulics
