All, I have an OE BMW E46 rack that is in great shape, but doesn’t have locks as they are no longer manufactured at this point. The same goes for the bars as well. Anyway, I have stainless Allen key hardware that I put together that keeps the rack in place and won’t corrode. if you wish to make it more secure, you could look into putting the rack on with stainless Torx bolts as well.
I would like $150.00, but will consider offers. PM me or email at roadbiker_2@att.net

Hey,
Interested, what pictures do you have showing the lock issue, not quite following you on what’s up there.

This essentially is what I was using for hardware for mounting. Works just fine, it is the correct thread pitch and is stainless steel so it won’t rust. I tried to buy new locks that fit this and they are no longer made at this point. The mounting method is plenty tight and secure. If you wanted more “Security” the Allen bolt could be switched to a Torx bolt instead

2017 VW AlltrackI just bought an original thule rack and it came with these fasteners, but in security torx head style. I may actually replace them with hex because who tf is going to be carrying a hex key looking to steal a 15 year old roof rack.

I’m fully with you and it takes more than a few moments to even get them off with the Allen Key anyway. What thief carries a 4mm Allen Key with him anyway 🤨

As far as the OEM screws and tool, I ordered a set from a local dealer about 18 mo back. Well maybe 24 mo and it took them about 4-5 months to get them to me. Maybe Hans is fully retired now?! The ones you are using should work well.
