Loose Swivel Rear View Mirror

Dunno if this has been addressed before or some of you guys have encountered this problem.

My rear view mirror is loose. A little bump on road, the mirror will point down. It looks like the swivel ball is loose.

Anybody know how to fix this? You Tube is not specific on E46 and all they show is how to remove and install rear view mirrors.

Had one that did that. Broken socket on the attachment. I ended up replacing the entire rear view mirror.

Also curiously, mine isn’t tha bad yet but I find myself constantly adjusting it

Rear view mirror is not really that bad. Only loose swivel ball. Like JPMo….I have to keep on adjusting. Seeking a remedy short of complete replacement. But will consider if no remedies found. Any ideas where to get a replacement mirror with rain sensor?

Mine had the round washer that clamped down on the ball socket come loose.

Once I was able to push it back down, it worked as normal.

I had to use two screw drivers in each hand to apply pressure simultaneously to each side of the ring. Probably took me 30+ attempts.
