Picked up the Avant 3, the Umnitza Orion V4s and a few other morsels. I'll be doing a full engine bay detail tomorrow. I also plan on doing an in-depth review on the Avant once installed. Stay tuned, fellashttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180805/1c4bfbc57c5cfab06d0721b6106d01f1.jpg

Six hours later. I left the trim off to throw in a SIM card tomorrow. In depth explanation of the install and review to come. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180806/329cca4d3e77dc35aa651ae83364bea9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180806/d3c8de293933c378bca29ed2d9ef9d67.jpg

I think you're going to have issues getting the SIM to work.

Verizon couldn't give me one because the IMEI didn't show up in this database.

I hope you figure it out so I can take the same route...

Sent from my Pixel using TapatalkFor ten bucks, I figured I'd just stick one in there so I can button everything up. If it works great, if not I'll just hotspot my phone in the meantime. Is that what you did or did you pick up a standalone hotspot for the car?

I went to T-Mobile today. They were gonna charge me $27 for the SIM. I pressed a little, told them they had it for $10 on Amazon and they just ended up giving it to me for free. I added 2gb a month for no cost at all as an existing unlimited customer. I can always do 6gb for an extra ten bucks a month if 2gb isn't enough. I'd imagine most carriers are comparable in terms of cost for existing customers.

I dropped it into the sim reader and it fired right up. No issues.

Download that shit on wifi

Dang... I don't understand why Verizon couldn't do the same thing for me. Something about not finding that IMEI in the system so they couldn't add service to it. I had to get a standalone hotspot, which also doesn't quite work because the damn thing turns off after it gets too hot, so I'd have to manually turn it on every time I'd get in the car over the summer...

Sent from my Pixel using TapatalkIf you're using your phone data plan, then you can just set your phone to automatically go into hotspot mode when it connects to the headunit via Bluetooth.

I don’t have this HU, but am considering switching to t-mobile for a number of reasons. I need to get off my arse.

Guys,

I finished editing and uploading my videos this weekend on the AVIN Avant 3 Install and review. I will post something more formal in the coming days, but a few of you seemed interested on this chain, so I figured I'd drop the links here first.

Here are the videos on my new Youtube channel, @///ZHPerformance

Basic UI Review of the AVIN
https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=xFWViAMCsaw

AVIN Install Part 1
https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=eTVC6mre9M0

AVIN Install Part 2
https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=SqIzp4KRZMQ

AVIN Install Part 3
https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=YXwoK0znZa0

It's a lot of trial and error, but is mostly plug and play - just takes time. Feel free to ask questions on here or in the comments of the videos.

I'm glad you did it because I just haven't had the time.. bought this unit back in January IIRC and writing up a DIY and full review is STILL on my to-do list, with no ETA in sight.

Thanks for putting that up.

I was gonna do the video method but it was WAY too much work to do it to the level of perfection I require. That's also one reason the DIY never came to fruition... I'm way too anal about my documentation. I was getting tired in the middle of writing just one page... lol

It's certainly challenging. I tried to do that a bit in part 2 since my buddy and I were in the front seats and the camera angle wasnt ideal. When I put together my official post for the mafia, I'll try to get more detailed.
