Ok guys so I searched online a lot before taping the wires. The angel eyes look badass but they just won’t turn off! I am almost 100% sure I tapped the right wire based on what it said online. What else could it be?

I have given it an hour and still don’t turn off.

... should’ve stayed stock... lol

Is been a while. Did you also wire through the footwell in order to have switchable control.? Maybe that part is messed up.

No i didn’t. I didn’t know I had to do that

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI don't remember exactly, but you tap one wire in the fuse box so that it only gets power when the car is on. The other wirr you tap into is the footwell light on the passenger side so that the angel eyes come on with the footwell lights - aka when you lock unlock or open the cars doors.

My guess is you maybe tapped into the wrong wire? Sometimes they stay on after a long drive, but it's just extra power being displaced and they go off after 5 min. An hour is definitely overkill

Just an FYI, I recently disconnected the wire to the passenger footwell light. After a while it gets very annoying when you need to do some work in the car with the lights on and it drains your battery.

Everywhere I’ve read online it says to tap it into the red wire with the yellow dotted lines like my picture. So weird that it didn’t work for my car

This is what I used a long time ago when I first installed mine.

The system is supposed to shutdown after a period of time ( interior lights too) but sometimes this doesn't happen. I've had my angel eyes stay on for quite a long period of time then next time I shut off the car they are fine

The interior lights turn of. Just don’t understand why they stay on. Maybe it’s a bad relay. I’m going to disconnect the battery for about an hour and connect it back see if that resets the ECU.

...Maybe my ECU just likes to PARTY and never go to sleep.

I'll verify the wire mine are connected to when I get home tonight...

The other thing I could think of is that the wire for the ECU might not be connected somehow. So if it’s connected only to the positive and negative it’ll stay on and nothing it’s telling it to turn off..

Ok, I'll check and see what plug it's in too...

EDIT: here are the instructions for my latest set. It would appear that you do have the correct wire...

You are tapped into the correct wire but maybe redo that connection because this is the switch on and off wire, not the main voltage.

To me the "Red" wire at the ECU looks like it should go to the battery terminal, constant 12v.

Wiring AE's you basically have the following.

- 12v constant (Red)
- Ground (Black)
- Trigger wire (Yellow)
- Trigger wire (White)

Depending on the brand of AE's the trigger wires vary. Usually they are "Yellow" and "White".
Sometimes they are "Brown" and "Red". They are typically the small gauge wire.

The relay has constant 12 volts and ground, the trigger wire is basically the switched "ON" power to the relay. So the trigger wire that is tapped to the Red/Yellow wire at the ECU is always "ON" with the ignition. The second trigger wire goes to the footwell lighting to give fade on/off effect.

The diagram with the "SPST Switch" is an option for an On/Off switch inside the cabin. I have one installed so I can shut off my AE's when desired.

It is possible the relay is bad. Good Luck...

This is where mine connects. It's the red wire. Connected to the red with white stripe and yellow bands. The rest is wired a little different than yours because my angel eyes have two colors.

If it seems to be wired correctly and still not turning off you can try this alternate wire below. This my tap for the water pump on my supercharger cooling circuit. It does the same thing: on & off with key.

Im interested in what you find the solution to be. Also thank you for posting a picture of a silbergrau with glossblack grill and angel eyes. Now I know what mine will look like when I complete these mods and I cannot wait

Alright guys thank you very much for the help. Hopefully this thread will help others in the future. Turns out I had a faulty relay that was sticking. I bought a new wiring harness and it worked!!!!!!! Wohhoooooo

fuark that looks so nice.... I was gonna have someone autoflex my grilles gloss black, but i got impatient and decided I'm gonna try to plastidip it, followed by gloss coat. But damn that makes me so excited no know mine will look like that soon. What brand angel eyes did you go with?

Glad you figured it out. I had a feeling it was the relay.

FYI that relay is a common relay that can be picked up at most automotive stores. The wiring diagram is usually stamped on the bottom or side of the relay

I actually bought the lights locally not really sure of the brand but man they are bright!!!!

I was going crazy trying to figure it out lol. Didn't know they sold these relays at local auto stores. Good to know for next time

Painted reflectors look so much better. I’m also digging the smoked corners inside the headlights.
