124,000 miles. Pulled the backseat out and not getting any hum from the pump. Looks to be the the original pump being that it has the non adjustable factory hose clamp. Do the fuel pumps go out before the fuel pump relays generally? Should I check the relay first or just go ahead and replace the pump?

Replace the pump, gasket and relay. VDO is the go-to brand.

Fuel pumps on these cars seem to die anywhere from 70-200k. I replaced mine at 150k as preventive maintenance.

I put that in earlier this year.

I would put in a new fuel filter as well assuming it is the original

Fuel pump is a relatively easy job. Fuel filter - not so much, at least, not if you're doing it on your back in the garage. A lift would make it much easier (like it does for most other jobs.) :p

Definitely recommend doing both. I did mine at around the same mileage. The engine cranked longer than it should at startup so I figured the pressure was low and pump was on its way out. The fuel filter actually looked like it was relatively new and probably didn't need to be replaced, but I didn't know how old it was and figured I'd do it anyway.

Good luck with yours...

What codes does it throw. The crankcase sensor will do a similar thing.

The proper way to diagnose would be to check for voltage at the pump. If yes, the fuel PUMP is dead. If no, the fuel pump RELAY is dead. 9 times out of 10 it’s the pump.

Replaced the pump over the weekend. It was definitely the original pump. The pump was one of the few bits of preventative maintenance the seller didn’t do prior to purchase. Thankfully he did do the fuel filter.
