Hi All,

I just purchase my ZHP as a DD to give my e39 M5 some rest. I purchased it from Washington and had it shipped down to me in San Diego sight unseen.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180509/22a0ea0a27944dafa531ab982d5923c5.jpg
I haven’t had a chance to drive it much yet. I dropped it off today at my local Independent BMW shop to have a oil leak assessed. They called me up and quoted about $1200 to fix 2 leaks. I should have it back tomorrow.
Overall it’s a clean vehicle and can’t wait to daily drive it.
Here are a couple of photos.

Thanks! She’s just shy of 97k miles.

Yes Imola is my favorite. I wanted a imola M5 so bad but two deals fell through and ended up with Le Mans blue.

What oil leaks did you have?
According to the shop, it was the valve cover, vanos line and oil filter housing.

I got my zhp back from the shop, no more oil leaks! I need front and rear brakes/rotors, but otherwise they said it was in good shape.
I ordered the “oem” set from FCP since I plan to keep the vehicle for a long while. They should be in Monday.
I don’t like the amber on these lights so I ordered the euro rcr set from tuner motorsport, I’m excited to swap those out. I won’t really drive it until I have the brakes replaced. Here she is sitting outside the shop.

They recommended to also replace the valve cover instead of just the gasket, that part was $460.

Thank you, actually the shop is www.bimmerdoc.com
There’s a forum member on here known as “Hermes” that works there, which I guess is why I blindly just go with their recommendation.
I’m confident that they know what they’re doing. However, input from you guys is appreciated and definitely open to listening to advice on here.

I liked the look of no tint, but in SoCal it almost feels mandatory. I do like to have some privacy though.
I had ASWF Excel IRP film put on 25% on side windows and 18% on rear window.

I was able to get my rear shocks replaced, my right rear shock mount was super noisy an couldn’t wait to replace it.
I then ordered the new Koni fsd shocks for the rear, the fronts supposedly won’t be available until next month.
Disassembled the rear trunk carpet and ripped the brittle noise dampening material:

Yes! I knew I needed new ones since the rear just sounded horrible. I couldn’t take it anymore, but after doing some research I read great things about the original gold FSDs. Then I read they were discontinued and a new design was coming out. So I’ve been waiting for them to become available. Found the rears on tire rack and just going to keep searching for the fronts and order them ASAP. I wasted money on oem rear dust boots and bump stops as I didn’t know the konis would come with their own. Now I’m wondering if the fronts will come with their own?

Next up I’d like to do rear trailing arm bushings/ball joint and front control arms/bushing.

Sorry about the finger, but glad you got all that front suspension work done. Initial thoughts?

Also, if I never have to use spring compressors it’ll be too soon. That pic of the front spring makes me cringe.

I’ve driven less than 100mi on them but you can definitely notices the difference.
The spring compressors we’re not as bad as I thought. I think having my impact wrench made the difference.

So I finally had the time to attempt to do all rear trailing arm bushings/ball joints. It was honestly a pain in the ass for me.
I purchased the BavAuto tool which had some issues but did work, until I got to the last one and broke. The bimmerworld RTABs were super tight and the right side was not going it and that's when the bolt for the tool snapped.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180928/06b74e241416eb3a8ac21608ad26ff69.jpg
There were no instructions to it and the pieces for the lower bushing didn’t workout as they should. The install pieces designed for it interfere with the bushing going in all the way. Me being so smart thought it was just resistance and kept going at in and ruined the new lower bushing. I was able to use another attachment to make it work, but since I didn't have an extra bushing laying around I left one original in for now.

Removing them all them was very easy.

I had a lot of little issues here and there that took up a lot of time to correct. The ride with the new BimmerWorld ball joint definitely feels a bit harsh to me. I’m going to put my new wheels and tires on soon and get an alignment and see if I can live with it. I have control arms on the way and I imagine that will be a lot easier !

The buyer was someone from the Bay Area.

I was on and off about selling it, I posted it and it sold pretty quick. I need to buy a bigger home and it’s a little pricy in San Diego.

Thanks, my tires are Michelin ps4s 235/40/18.
Unfortunately NVH seems to have increased. Also, I’m noticing more rattling in the cabin that was not noticed before.

Small update : the previous owner had wrapped the alcantara steering wheel in a cheap leather cover. I read post of members being able to clean and revive old grimy alcantara wheels. So I removed the leather cover in hopes of doing this, but there was a tear on the fabric and just didn’t like it.

The ZHP has developed a coolant leak from the temp sensor. I knew this was as simple of a fix as replacing the oring on it, but I opted to do a mild cooling refresh instead. (Upper/lower hose, temp sensor, water pump, engine and trans t-stat).
