Hey everybody, I come to you today to seek for advice on a couple of cars I'm looking at.
Edit: Purchased the Mystic Blue sedan.

With kid (s), go sedan for sure, also, you had me at new tires, that's money you don't have to spend now. Or that could spend on burnt bowls. Heck a mirror not folding? Tis OK man.
If dove bored you last time, maybe having a ZHP back in your hands will offset the feeling.

^ this. Go for the sedan, mystic is such a pretty color and it sounds like it was enthusiast owned for most of its life. The other car sounds like a money pit although i do love me some AW.

MB is the best choice among the 2. But I say take your time and find one you really like. You are in the middle of Austin and Dallas. Good examples show up every now and then.

Mystic sedan. It's better optioned and... we need more blue cars in the world.
Please keep in mind, it's not Dove Grey - it's just grey. Dove is an almost white-grey leather that was not available on the E46.
You can get around the "boredom" issue by properly two-toning it. Buy black carpet, a black dash, and black console pieces, then make the door card surrounds black while keeping the centers grey. That would look super sharp.

Kids: sedan.
Link to the coupe?

Welp, I scurried off and bought myself the MB sedan today. :)
I just love that color, and may already have a lead on a NB interior as well. Although, that grey with the black does look pretty dang good.
Drove it 2 hours back south and SO happy to be behind the wheel of a ZHP again!
It was indeed enthusiast owned, with every inspection and service interval well documented with receipts. Same owner from 01/2006 to current and 11k miles to when I drove it away with 140k. Little higher mileage than I wanted but with maintenance records like this, I couldn't pass it up. Ended up with the car for $6300 which I think is a steal with what maintenance it has and the paint condition.
Yes I have a link to the coupe and the owners contact if anyone wants it, PM me. I feel kind of bad because when the AW owner contacted me and said he's *potentially* selling again, I told him I was still interested. Then this pops up and well, the rest is history. I have to break the bad news to him.

That looks 1000x better. My parents have a loaner RX350 right now because their RX has a leaking gasket #Just250kMileThings, and the loaner has grey interior with black dash/console/door cards/etc. They even put black floor mats BUT THE CARPET IS STILL FREAKING GREY!!! It looks almost as stupid as the fake exhaust tips in the bumper.

Here she is, drove it to work and home today and am super happy with it. The glorious note of the ZHP exhaust just feels right. :biggrin

Looks great. Time for a thorough detail in and out and you'll be the happiest guy in Waco not named Chip Gaines.
Nice pup too.

Looks great! I might want to add painting your lower grille to your to do list....They all seem to fade to gray. There is a diy thread for that somewhere on here...

I was going to just use painter tape and newspaper and just spray without removing the bumper...

Bruh. Pulling the bumper off is really easy and then you don't have to worry about overspray or gunking up your radiator with paint.

You can pull the grille out without removing the bumper. Ask me how I know...

Isn't getting it back in the hard part? (Giggity)

It was def harder to get back in. Might be easier to tape it off and spray paint. I plan to do that for the diffuser piece soon.

Easy to tape and spray, which is what I did. Also, no biggie to remove and spray.

Thanks! That's Tyson, our black lab. Super awesome dog. Couldn't ask for a much better companion to our 5 year old.

I didn't notice it until you pointed it out! :facepalm haha. Thanks! I actually have my bumper off right now to retrofit some G5-R projectors in place of the ZKW's. No more a perfect time!

Man, I really like this blue! First blue one and it's grown on me fast! Catch myself turning around to look at it when walking away. :cool

Not sure if anyone told you, but the bumper doesn't have to come off for that. :)

^ Yep, that is what I did on my previous ZHP, turned out quite nicely.

^ I put newspaper behind the lower grill too, to avoid overspray.

It does when you have headlight washers, I don't see any other way to get the washer out of the headlight lower mount. I've had the bumpers off before, really easy to do and why not? :)

No sir. I have headlight washers as well and remove my headlights all the time. Never had to remove the bumper for that.
The washer pumps are attached to a bracket that attaches to the headlight assembly. They come off as one unit. There are two boots at the top of the headlight and two below it, hidden by the body colored trim. Remove the corner light and trim and you'll see the two boots under the headlight. Then, the whole thing slides out the front of the car.
Which part prevented you from removing the headlight?

Lol well this is my first e46 with headlight washers and instead of breaking something it’s easier for me to remove the bumper and figure out how it works rather than guess and break something. I’ve removed many bumpers on these cars and it’s so simple I’d rather do it to get a good look at everything. What’s the harm in that?
I now know how they attach to the lower bracket.
