WTB: BMW Performance Strut bar

I know they are impossible to find but might as well make my thread as well. I'm looking for one and willing to pay market price.

Please let me know if any one has a lead. This is one of the final pieces I need to complete my car.

Willing to buy a cracked or broken one as well so if anybody knows if anybody that has a broken one let me know.

Is there something I don't know? I know the bars are rare but are you saying that he has 3 boxed up and stored just to have them but won't sell them?

No he has one on his M3 and one on his ZHP and one hanging on the wall I do believe.

Ahhhhh then that makes a lot of sense. 2 cars plus a spare in case one breaks. If I had the money, I would do the same thing.

Hate to say this but I have BPs broken strut bar. Going to have this professionally repaired so I can mount this on my wall.

As for the one on my ZHP....I took that one off and traded that strut bar for my Nikon D810 DSLR. Couldn’t pass on this...I now have a DINAN strut bar on my ZHP.

The other “spare” BMW Performance strut bar went to another M3 friend for a Battlezone Arcade game he fully restored. It was something I have always wanted and he really wanted my strut bar...

So that leaves one that I have on my M3. I’m keeping that right where it is [emoji41]

If I see one for sale I will give you a heads up [emoji1419]

damn just cant win.

i just found out that the E90 bar is the same bar you just swap in the end link attachments. initially I was going to try to fix it but i started studying last night much more and that's why the bar has both part numbers on it.

if you do think about it, would love to purchase the broken one. name the price if there is one.

lol man yours is really nice too. yours is a treasure trove of beautiful parts. There isn't a car on this site that i dont like. each and everyone has character from the owners and a culmination of their individual likes and tastes and hard work.

i never knew they made performance BMW Seats for e46.. i saw your sig but i google searched and could find nothing about them.

he was on facebook and he says it came on his 2001 325i when he bought it. 19 year old guy in indiana. he said he wouldnt sell it for anything. another guy... his buddy that tagged him....also had one that was cracked and he said he refused to sell his broken one for any amount of money either. it was pretty insane.

finally the guy threw out a number of 2k because he saw one for sale online at one point for that (he had an ebay screen shot from 2 years ago).

i finally talked him into $1200 cash + an M sport steering wheel I had laying around that I had just rewrapped with one of those ebay leather wheel kits. i literally had $60 invested in the wheel since i got it from the junkyard for $10 and the wrap for $50.

all in all i ended up paying $1200 + $28 shipping insured for $1800 + $60 for 6 new nuts from ECS (he couldn't give me the BMW performance nuts from his car since it was his daily) + $60 for the steering wheel.

i still severely overpaid but i realized that its 2018.. its not going to get any easier to get this item and if you have people that wont sell their broken ones for any amount of money... then i better just pony up the cash for it and weep about it later.

hes already disassembled it and had a custom box made with an inner frame so it doesnt get damaged. and its shipped via fedex today.

should get it sometime next week.

I requested that he disassemble it for me. I wanted to get the dimensions down to save on shipping and also it allowed us or allowed him to wrap the carbon fiber part completely in thick bubble wrap. I didn't want to risk the end pieces still being attached and during shipping getting sucked up breaking the carbon fiber and half at the ends. Had him build a custom cardboard box with an inner frame at a local store up in Indiana as well.

There's no denying that there's something special about the strut bar and I don't really feel as dumb for paying so much knowing that there's other people out there they bought two or three at one time albeit at lower prices but still for somebody to have the drive and need to buy multiple ones at once means that this bar is special on its own.

Each end is held together by 2 allen or torx heads on the undersides. Ive thought about purchasing the e92 ones but you would have to have custom ends made.

silicone for weatherproofing to keep the inner CF frame clean and moisture free. I will reapply new clear silicone once I receive it.
