Well, 4 weeks owning my 2005 Convertible 6MT. I bought it knowing it had 3 bent wheels (2 are welded). So I'd been searching for a set of used staggered wheels and only finding wheels needing refurbishing. And the wheels plus refurbishment cost were getting close to the cost of new wheels............. so I pulled the trigger and bought OEM new which arrived today. Question is, what do I do with the one's I'm taking off? Do bent and/or welded rims have any value? Do the refurb shops buy? Or are they trash?

Depending on demand, a wheel refinisher might buy them from you. http://www.rimpro.com/ is in New England.

http://www.wheelcollision.com/ is in PA. They sell refinished Style 135 fronts for $285 ($255 to refinish yours) & rears for $325 ($295 to refinish yours).

Thanks John. Those are in line with the quotes I was seeing. But I'll give Rimpro a call, they're local and were recommended by my Indy.

And looking at used wheels that certainly needed refurb, I was concerned that I wouldn't easily be able to spot a bent rim which would add to that refurb cost. So I took the plunge for $379 ea at Turner. Any cost recovery from the leftovers would help there

Do they hold air ? Someone may be interested for a spare tire.
