View Full Version : New owner from Canada
Long time BMW owner and big E46 fan. I’ve had 2 E46 M3’s and a 325Xi Touring. I really wanted a ZHP after driving a friends. I ended up finding an IR/black 05 6 speed coupe in Canada with 160km/100k miles, 2 owners and a good stack of service records. Interior is very clean and the exterior is rust free. The paint is good except for the hood and A pillars which have a ton of stone chips. Plan is to get them repainted.
I’ve done some basic stuff so far, fluids, new FCAB’s and shifter bushings. Also replaced the windshield and peeled off an ancient clear bra to find clean bumper paint underneath. Plans are for new struts and springs for a modest drop and some sways and eventually an M3 LSD swap. It’s the best DD and road trip car I’ve had in some time.

Yep I got tired of working on the ground. Other than smashing my head all the time I love the lifts. We did a reno and this and the only part I really cared about was the garage ;)

Hey Peter - yep it's not big but it's tall, something like 20' x 20' x 20'. No family garage stuff goes in there - all the kid crap is in a shed or in the basement. I don't even like them hanging in my space.
@ZHPizza, your car is my twin! Like your sig pic, looks like somewhere in the Blue Ridge Mtns

We're double twinsies as this is also in my garage:

Be sure to take full advantage of living close to Peter! His garage is actually just a stack of e46 parts with a roof.

Nice, seems like you've been busy since your last update! Where are the pics of the ARC8s on the car?
Speaking of, you should head over to the ARC8 fitment thread and plop down your info:

I'm going to assume those pictures were taken this morning with the 3ft of snow lol
I'm ahead of you on a few things on your list so I'll give my feedback:
Shark Injector -- kind of sucks, as we've recently found out. I liked the improved throttle response, but that's about all it does. I'd look into a Eurocharged or even AA tune before shark.
Cone filter intake -- I got great results from my DIY CAI, (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?19536-ZHPizza-s-red-car&p=560614#post560614) but it takes some work to make it fit on a facelift coupe. The power/efficiency boost is just awesome though. I think some heat shielding on the HFM will make it even better as it is still reading ~10F greater than ambient likely due to the HFM housing being heated in the engine bay.
Wheel studs -- just know that there's no good way to protect the threads from rusting up in your climate
Turner pedal covers -- a good budget option is the OMP 1010 set (http://www.madrussian.net/m3/review_omp_pedals.shtml). I was on the Turner pedal train until I saw that these would fit. Still haven't installed them, but I loved them on my other car.
ARC-8 -- HELL YEAH. I have 18x9.5et35 square and love it.
Sways -- I went budget on these too with a Z4M front (27mm) and 330xi rear (20mm). Solid improvement for little cost.
Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback! The pic is 4 weeks old and the snow is finally gone. The car is always washed and garaged so I should be ok with the studs (or I’ll store them in the winter). Hi
I don’t have the sways yet- is there a guide or part numbers so I know what year(s) to look for?
