So whats the deal....every leather interior I see has Alcantara wheel, and every alcantara interior has leather wheel? Is that just coincidence or is that how the options are set up? Maybe I just haven't noticed the other....

I have a leather interior and leather wheel.

Often, the cars came with alcantara wheel and cloth seats. However, the wheels wore out, so people swapped them for leather.

As for the leather seats and alcantara wheel, I can't explain that. I guess people opted for the leather (which was an option) and decided on the alcantara wheel.

Unless you have a 2005+ coupe (I think when they started using the Perforated wheel, not in sedans though) your car probably came with an Alcantara steering wheel originally. I do not believe it was an option.

I bet 60% of us on this forum do not have the original steering wheel in our cars; BMW would replace the wheel for anyone who complained while the car was under warranty.
