I decided to replace the DISA valve to eliminate some hesitation symptoms, which had no effect, probably because there was nothing wrong with the one I replaced. So now I have the OEM unit sitting around - thought I'd see if anyone needs one. It's in great shape. I don't know if it is the original unit or if it was replaced at some point but it looks practically new. See photos for condition, and video for operation (to show the valve/ spring works well... actual operation would require plugging into the harness on a running vehicle.)

edit: on second thought - $100 seems high, let's try this;
$75 shipped sound fair? New OEM BMW units are $250-$300 depending on where you buy it.

Located just west of Boston, MA.

What's the mileage on it?

Assuming it wasn't replaced - 124k miles. I'll see if I can find any record of it being replaced in the vehicle's history. The PO took very good care of this car. I remember scanning the printed records and noticing he actually paid the dealer to replace windshield wiper blades. 😯

There might be a "born on" date stamped into the plastic somewhere that could help you ascertain age vs. miles.

Checked the housing - don't see a mfr date - unless those numbers embossed on the rear face are a date code of some kind.

OP edited to reduce price. I think $100 shipped was probably ambitious. :)

It might be a good example for the GAS DISA repair kit.

Can't say that it is... Everything about the 'flapper' is really smooth and tight - not loose at all; I compared them side-by-side before I installed the new one. I was totally expecting to see a loose/failed unit when I took it out based on the info I've seen on the 'net for high-mileage cars. I don't know what other people have experienced but the operation of the original feels just as solid as the new unit.

Any bites for $40 plus shipping?

I would be interested. That way I can do the repair kit without touching my car. And if I screw it up...I can still drive.
