It's so nice to finally have time to do this. My name is Joe and this is my Oxford Green ZHP, Olive. I did a quick intro thread when i picked up the car but just to recap:

I picked up the car at the end of June just outside of Philly with 155K miles on the car. I paid $9k of it. Its probably a bit on the higher end, but its also 1 of 3 in the OG/ sand beige combination, so I guess I paid for exclusivity. I always forget to add that the PO threw in a set of winter wheels and tires. So if you factor in that they alone would cost me almost $1000 on their own, my price comes down closer to $8k. According to the carfax, I'm the 4th owner. The previous two owners were very good about keeping up with maintenance, of which I have the history for from the 30k mile mark below.

Modifications:

Clutch Stop- I put a clutch stop on my previous car, an '09 335 and it really made it much easier to find that bite point. Also because theres less of a drop in revs, the shift are much smoother. I went with the one from Burger Tuning but they'll all pretty much do the same.

http://www.burgertuning.com/clutch_stop_BMW.html

Steering wheel/Boots-My steering alcantara wheel is in pretty bad shape so I placed an order for a newly upholstered wheel and matching boot. I'll post pics and info when I receive them.

Thank you for the compliments guys. I really like being a part of this community. I almost feel a sense of responsibility in preserving this car as there are so few of them out there. OG in general is just a rare BMW color. For the life of me I just can't figure out why. The only thing I could assume is that when customers were specing their cars, green was a hard color to picture on the E46/E39 bodies. So people went with a safer option like a grey or silver. I remember when I would play around with the E46 M3 configurator and I wanted the brightest and boldest colors out there like Iola Red, or Interlagos Blue. At 17, green on an M3 sounds a bit off. My my my, how I've matured....

Back to Olive. Before purchasing my ZHP, I had read a number of e46 buyer guides all over the internet. Of course basic rule of thumb, you always want to budget for repairs/maintenance. To any future BMW e46 owner.....

YOU ALWAYS WANT TO BUDGET FOR REPAIRS/MAINTENANCE!

My wife and I had a trip planned for Cape Cod. I definitely wanted to have all needed maintenance done before we hit the road. Because we currently live in Manhattan, and the car is kept at my parents place in Queens, it was hard for me to orchestrate me actually working on the car. So for the time being and until we settle on a house for ourselves, I have all work done at a family friend's shop.

I had a PPI done that came back with 3 basic, fairly common and simple things that had to be done:
OFHG (along with oil change)
Vans Line
Valve Cover Gasket.

My rear driver side window actuator was picked up, and I'll address it in the near future, but in terms of mechanical repairs, these were what had to be done. I placed an order with ECS and figured with labor, id be looking at around $6-700 to get it up to code.

Not exactly. While my dad was bringing it to the shop for the noted things, the car stalled out on him. Turns out there was a crack in the intake boot. So that needed to get addressed. The crank shaft position sensor also needed to be replaced. When they got under the car they saw a bunch of hoses were dried out and cracking, so those needed to go.

All in all, my first trip to the shop cost me $1700, or just under 2k if you include my ESC order. Fortunately, I had budgeted for it. Truth be told I budgeted for a new set of APEXs, but clearly thats on hold right now nono

The shop owner said that the car may have stalled out on the previous owner and that that may what have scared him into selling the car.

A word to new owners, make sure you budget for any repairs and maintenance.

Thanks. I'll update it as much as I can.

Right now, no. But I honestly want to be. That's part of the reason why I wanted an e46, they're fairly simple to work around and because of the amount of parts available for it, repairs shouldn't break the bank.

Like I mentioned above, our current living arrangements would make it hard for me to find time to get under the hood. We've been looking for a house now for a few months, so once I have my own garage to get settled in to, I'm sure my hands will get dirty.

Please exude the crappy iPhone pics for this next part.

After giving it its first wash, I noticed how bad the swirls were in the paint. And was looking around for a good place to do a paint correction. Then I remembered I got this car so I can do a lot of the work on it myself.

I scored a deal on a griots garage 6 inch random orbital off of eBay since my generic one bit the dust.

Since getting my first BMW in '09 I've only used Griots Garage products and have been very happy with the way they have been keeping my cars looking.

Here's what the car looked like 2 weeks ago...

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170911/0482805589cc27b7aad1ccd6a11ad17f.jpg

Again, I'm sorry for the crappy iPhone pics. This was taken at night in my garage underneath a regular halogen light bulb. It doesn't tell the whole story but it tells enough.

The next day, this is the process I went through:
Griots garage car wash (x2 to make sure I cleaned everything)
Griots garage clay bar with speed shine as lubricant
Another Griots garage car wash
Griots garage machine polish 3,2,1 in that order (successfully did hood, front fender, trunk, and front doors)

I ran out of time and it's far from perfect, it we've made an improvement big time....

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170911/bf1e989c0a3faa6960137105a9b0ea37.jpg

While I improved in one area, it's time to tackle another. No that's not powered sugar on my hood, those are rock chips. The PO included a vile of OG from Dr Colorchip. I have some accessories coming in from them but because they're based in Florida, my order is on hold due to Irma. When it comes in, I'll give it a whirl and post some before and after shots.

*side note: I remember the rock chips on my e92 looking real bad. They were down to the aluminum. All you would see is the hood below. Clear coat, paint, and primer/base were all stripped right off. It seems like the primer is still on there after 13 years. I'm going to say that BMW has gone backwards in the paint department as far as quality is concerned. Anyone else feel this way?

Here are some better pics of the wheel. It looks awesome. I didn't want to go with the tri-color M stitching and really wanted to feed into the green theme a bit more. Its wrapped in perforated leather at the 3 and 9:00 positions and solid smooth leather at 12 and 6:00. Best of all is that it's been given and extra 1/8 inch in padding, so it's feels pretty chunky.cant wait to get this installed, probably in about 2 weeks.

love the perf and the green stitching! is this from coby?

i'm going to send a wheel into him for full perf treatment... i am liking the green stitching (just something different), i might do something similar that compliments the red exterior of the Touring.

I originally wanted to go through coby but at the time he was only working with alcantara and didn't have any leather options.

Then I came across Alexander on BF. Here's the original thread that caught my eye....

Looking to get some feedback for my next interior mod.
Currently I have silver cube interior trim. It looks great but I think I want to change it up to something a bit glossy.

At the same time I'd love to play off of the theme that the BMW z8 did, which was incorporate the exterior color of the car in the dash trim.

What I like about many of the examples of z8s that were built was that they had a very simple color scheme: the exterior color was on the dash trim and the seating surfaces matched the carpets. It's truly "less is more" at work.

With that said I'm thinking of switching out my trim for either gloss black or getting it custom painted in oxford green. I would also do the steering wheel trim, and maybe even the airbag cover.

Would love to know the familgia's thoughts, and to see what others have done.

Damn has it really been over a month since I posted here? The Mrs and I have been house hunting so I really haven't had a chance to spend with olive. I finally escaped from the city and go to visit her.
That new wheel has not gotten put on yet. However today I was able to take apart the trim of the wheel and dropped off the upper and lower parts at a shop to have painted a gloss black. I'm also going to be on the look out for a gloss black trim set and will probably be selling my silver cube set
I also spent some time today with my Dr Colorchip road rash kit. The back story is that the PO supplied me with a vile of OG Dr Colorchip.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171104/f86cd7579ac97402a64ebab69bb264ef.jpg
As you can tell by that picture above Olive suffered from pretty bad road rash. I watched a bunch of DrColorchip instructional videos on YouTube and was confident in the giving it a try.
Firstly, DrC is a great product. Let me just say it's super easy to use and there is no reason anyone should be worried about putting it on their car.
After smearing it into a chip, you use a second vile of their seal-act solution to buff out the globs that are left behind. The problem was that the vile the PO supplied me with was a bit old and it becomes much harder to work with. DrC confirmed that each vile really only has a 1-year shelf life. I decided to order a new kit and gave it another try.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171104/6d87e463bbddd405d9173553ddac2354.jpg
It is no where near what a respray would look like. I get that. But for 60 bucks, it really makes a world of difference and I would recommend it to anyone. It's not perfect, but look as much from 10 feet away. Not bad for an almost 14 year old car.
I going to put some more on again the next time I'm over there. I believe that because it hardens over time, a second layer may actually fill in the chips a little more.
I'm more than happy to answer any other questions about it.
After the wheel gets fitted, and I work with the DrC a little more, next thing to tackle is going to be applying the leatherique that came in the mail a couple of weeks to the front seats and start investigating lighting options.

I also thought this would be a good time to go into detail with some of my thoughts on Dr Colorchip.
1. I have read in other forums that it tends to be more effective on darker colors than lighter ones. So in terms of the zhp, OG, BSM, JB, and MB would work as better bases than say AW or TiAg.
2. It's best to think of DrC as a sort of erasable pen. If you write with one and make a mistake you just correct it, but if you're happy with it, just leave it alone.
3. The seal-act solution that comes with the kits works to soften the paint. So, after you've applied it and let it dry (should take no longer than 10 minutes indoors), put some seal-act on a MF towel and rub it in.
4. When running in the seal-act, you'll be able to hear the MF towel going over the applied paint. Keep at it as if you were claying. Over time it'll smoothen out and become quieter.
5. As the seal-act comes off, you'll see it flaking off (I used that erasable pen analogy because it literally looks like rubber from an eraser, or tire "clag" if you're an F1 fan).
6. Because it was really worried about making sure the paint would come off, I was very liberal with how much seal-act I used. Needless to say, I picked up an extra bottle.
7. When I was done with an area, I would wash and dry the hood completely to make sure I got off all of those flaked bits and to have a better idea of what still had to be done.
8. I think when I know I've gone over the whole hood and filled in all the spots, I'm going to do it all over again. I feel like for some spots I may have rubbed the seal-act in a bit to hard and took out some of what I applied. I feel like if you apply it in multiple coats, you can fill in chips better and get a more perfect finish.
9. DrC has said in instruction videos that it should be the last step of the detailing process. I almost feel that after applying it, applying sea-act, rubbing it in and then washing the hood multiple times, I'm probably better continuing to work on correcting my paint with a number of polishes and sealants.

If anyone has any questions about DrC, I'd be more than happy to answer then to the best of my ability.

I've seen that video before. I think I'm going to order one of those pens. It must be an older video because the one he used isn't just 10 bucks, it's 45 on amazon.
I'm ire it'll work great but for road rash, DrC offers a beveled squeegee to spread it into a lot of chips in one motion.

The DrColorchip? Its possible since (from what I can gather) it isn't the same formula as regular paint. But I would think if you're getting a panel painted, like a hood, you'd end up having the paint sanded off so you'd wouldn't be paining over it.

Sidenote: I actually wanted to give DrC an honest chance before getting the hood repainted so that I could say the paint is all original in the event I decide to sell it down the road lol

I never had the patience to do all the chips on my hood with DrColorchip but I have used the product pretty successfully on 2 separate occasions by focusing on the main big ones that are down to the base paint, or worse, the metal. The paint match is top notch and it really fills the hole. It takes enormous patience to let the paint dry and then "shave" the excess of paint off the edge of the hole. After several (in some cases it was over 5 applications per chip) applications, the results are phenomenal. Almost as good as new.

As long as you don't have metal paint (metal flakes in your paint) then I think the video above with the really cool paint applicator would work. On metal flake paint, this does not work as you are constantly forced to shake the paint before re-dipping the brush into the paint vial.

Good luck guys. And Joe, you named your car by my name although on the forum people call me Olie. I am really Olivier and my wife call me Olive. Each time your thread pops up, I do a double take.

That's a good point I hadn't considered, metallic will probably make it much more difficult. Still, it'll probably be better than the chips I have currently.

Hope those reading had a very merry christmas and a happy new year.

The bad
I never got to update this after someone backed into me on thanksgiving. The damage was isolated to just the front drivers fender and I sourced out a new one from a Texas salvage yard. I'm leaving it as is for the time being and will fit the new one in the Spring. At that point I'm skipping the basic 1-4 Griots machine polishes and going straight to their fast correcting cream and sealant from their boss line.

I think Olive also is in need of a wheel alignment from that incident because under highway braking I can feel a pretty significant shimmy in the steering wheel.

The good

But, I've been doing some shopping:

1. I found a set of Gold Umnitza V2s on E46fanatics that I'll install when it gets warmer. Probably going to order some new projectors and kill two birds with one stone, along with installing new seals.

2. I was able to source 5 Apex Arc-8s in 18 x 8.5 et38. 3 are silver and the other 2 are satin black but I'm looking to powder coat them a shade of gold. And I'm going to have a full size spare.

3. I also found some OG M3 mirrors and ribbon cables, so I'm probably going to be enlisting the help of nextelbuddy to help assemble everything for me when the time comes.

Regarding the alignment

Since I'm most likely going to need an alignment anyway, Im playing on looking through my book of service history to see what exactly the PO did in terms of suspension maintenance. I think after the projects above are taken care of I'd like to update things like the FCABs and struts. Rear struts were done just prior to my buying the car so I'll just focus on the fronts for now.

Weather in NY wasn't bad at all today so I made it over to my parents place took out olive and gave her a good wash. Put on the first few miles of 2018.

The first 3 Apex wheels arrived last week so I gave them a good scrubbing. The last 2 should be here by next weekend.

For those who follow me on Instagram probably saw my post a few weeks back about powdercoating ideas. I'm happy to say I think I settled on a color...

The color is called Montana gold by prismatic. I got the inspiration from the wheels on the new Porsche GT2RS. I wanted a shade of gold that was so light you wouldn't be able to tell the wheels were actually gold unless they were in direct sunlight. But in direct sunlight I'll definitely shimmer a bit. Stay tuned....

Wellllllll, it seemed like it took forever but I finally wrapped up a couple of projects that I’ve been putting off over the winter.
1. Steering wheel
I had gotten this wheel done right after my wife and I came back from cape cod. I noticed the humidity and salty air started to affect the alcantara. While we were closer to the ocean, I noticed the wheel got sticker and flakes of the worn alcantara started to come off in my hand.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180304/0f49e82fe1dfe41670bcca7dfe7a0600.jpg
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180304/e5962ba149c56dba8077d5143d695c63.jpg
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180304/0d57ac2336c203f3fce61e824f057a60.jpg

It was redone by Alex who runs drozdupholstery.com. I found alex on bimmerforums and does incredible work. It was finished with green stitching and 1/8 inch of padding underneath, so it’s incredibly comfortable to hold while driving.

2. I also had my wheels powdercoated locally. The color is Platinum Gold by prismatic powders. I originally was going to use Montana gold but this has a bit more flake in it.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180304/134e2cce706012f65722c1b4d0f29520.jpg

The wheels are 18 x 8.5 all around. Tires are PSS 235/40/18. I mentioned in an earlier post that I had picked up 5 wheels. There was a good reason I did that.....
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180304/207bdd235485ac191e75f00a2e01437f.jpg
I now run a full size spare in the trunk. Whee and tire fits perfect. Any wider of a wheel will cause the trunk floor to pop up.

Next on my list is going to be new dampers maybe all around, but definitely up front. I also want to source some new lights because my gold angels are waiting to be installed but I don’t want to put them on my zkws because I plan to replace with ALs. Finally, I have a new driver side front fender that has to replace the damaged one that bonked on thanksgiving. Will probably do everything together since the drivers side front would be practically disassembled when it’s gotta get done.

Finally got to spend a little bit of time cleaning Olive. Since my last post I had koni FSDs installed and while I was at it, I did the front strut reinforcement. After a quick drive around the neighborhood, I can definitely tell there’s a bi difference with these. The car is so much smoother. I didn’t have time to log any highway miles with it. Looking forward to that.
The nice weather we had today in NY was much needed. I took some time to give her a good scrubbing. I used griots garage car wash and griots new best of show detailer.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180414/6307e0e07b1d6b37a4bc73ccd8e60a2c.jpg

This was also the first time I was able to snap some fairly decent pics of the wheels in direct light. I think they came out a deeper gold then originally intended, but I still love them against the OG.
The metallic flake is unreal.

Next on my to do list:

-AL headlights and Gold Umnitza V2s are also waiting, but first I need to source some new headlight lenses. Will probably order this week.

Thanks guys. One of my pet peeves is having too many different colors on the car. I want to simplify the palate a bit. I figure the gold wheels will compliment the interior a little better.
The gloss black grills will go on next to compliment the window trim and I’ll most likely get a gloss black 330i on the trunk.
How does the family feel about de-badging?
I also have a spare set of trim that I’d like to have done in sold gloss black. You guys think I should just wrap it instead?

Gold with black slats. Maybe I can wrap the original grills. It’s not tooooo tooooo terrible but I don’t want it to go from tasteful oem+ (which has always been my goal) to gaudy. Might not be as well received as the wheels. Even they are pushing the envelope a bit.

Ok. More progress. Some of you may have seen pics of my new headlights in the “what have you done” thread. I had zkw headlights and noticed the first time I was behind the wheel at night that they were burnt to a crisp.
So about a month ago I came across a guy on e46fantics who was parting out his sedan. I scored his pair of ALs for about $250 shipped.
I then ordered zkw-r lenses from ECStuning for $40 and MM lens covers off amazon for $100.
Prior to this I snagged a set of Gold V2 angels of e46 fanatics for about $100.
All in all, I’m in this project for just under 5 hundo.

Ok. Let’s get to work. This is the video I used to disassemble the ALs so that I can put in the zkw lenses....
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SaQfWLe528U

The hardest part easily was prying open the ball join inside and popping of the projectors. For anyone doing this, you need to apply force. Don’t be afraid to put some muscle into it.

***LENS FITMENT*** in other DIY thread for putting in zkw-r lenses purchased from places like The Retrofit Source, people are always saying how the lenses tend to be like 1mm too big to fit perfectly. Maybe I was expecting worse, but these lenses from ECS fell into the bracket well beyond my expectations. I highly recommend them.

Afterwards, I just reversed the whole process and I was done. It really was much easier than I anticipated. The ALs came with the AL specific mounting brackets so I didn’t have to dremel anything.

Ok on to pics....

Ok here’s where I need a little help. I went out tonight to check out my work. Light output is incredible, compared to what I had with my zkws. However, is there a proper way to adjust the direction of the beams? Like is there a proper rule to follow?

The following pics were of the projections against my parents garage door. The car is parked about 20 feet away from the door. Originally the beams were pointed down at the floor. I just lined up the sharp line of the beam and matched it with the line marking the top of the lowest panel on garage. The panel is about 18 inches high. I guess I’ll just have to drive around and hope I’m not blinding people.

Wowzer. Has it really been 4 months since I last updated this? Damn. Actually I’ve been pretty damn busy. Since my last post my wife and I moved out of our NYC studio and into our house in Westchester.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181106/0ea2f710f5f2292aa7b62baacb8414f5.jpg
My grass has since gone to hell, but fortunately Olive is still green as ever. Once we got settled in and got the garage organized (it’s still a mess) I tried my hand at a paint correction.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181106/dd86c279d7c76e58cc7b7beec5e58f4d.jpg
The reason I took it from that angle was because everything from the A-column back looks great. I think after I attempt another PC next summer, I’ll look to have the front clip resprayed.
I might have mentioned that Olive was backed into last thanksgiving, resulting in a warped driver-side front fender.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181106/ee039de124c037908bdd8671491cfeed.jpg
I sourced an OG one from a junkyard and popped it on. Only thing is I can’t get the headlight to line up perfectly. Needs a little adjustment.
Since I moving into the new house we also had a baby. My wife always cringed every time I crawled under the car. But now I’ve got more poop on my hands than oil, and since I can’t find the time to get under the car i figured it would be a good idea start a relationship with an Indy in my neighborhood. They put in new front control arms, FCABs and RTABs. Car feels really good. Still a small shimmy in the wheel under breaking, so I might look into new rotors in the new future.

This shop will be retrofitting heated seats for me in December. I’ve had them sitting in the garage for a while- warm buts will be a much welcomed up in Westchester. While the seats are out they’ll also be swapping out the carpet for me as I begin the sand beige two tone. This is the goal....
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181106/f468a8e21eb8c9fe6f5bfe57d8f7c543.jpg

Other than that stuff, I did oil change with Liqui Moly and also added ceratec and the fuel system cleaner.

In the mail right now is a pair of new Amber corners, so hopefully when I get them in the front will look brand new and the headlights can get readjusted to fit in properly. I’ve also got a new air filter for my performance intake incoming.

Stay tuned...

Well this looks like my last update for 2018. Ok where did I leave off?

Well, let’s start off with the biggest mod yet- heated seat retrofit. Got it done this past week. I had sourced the seats locally and picked up switch panel on eBay. The heated seat harnesses came from the shops parts car. It was a very warm welcome to the car- pun definitely intended.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181223/038359e071fb05b930d2965b74ec8611.jpg

Now that it’s complete, I’d like to look into doing the sprint booster/ sport button mod over the winter.

While the seats were out, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and swapped in a black carpet in place of the beige.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181223/f553027aecb2e8fffab266a1332e6e30.jpg

Ermahgod I love it. The beige lower dash makes it look and feel like an individual interior with a leather wrapped lower dash. I need to find a proper cleaner to scrub the grain of the lower dash. I still need to get all the black trim pieces that go around the lower parts of the doors like the kickplates and b-column covers and I have the black center console waiting to get installed.

I also fitted new amber corners and TRS’s led fogs. I wife chewed my ass out for the way they were blinding her when I was driving behind her this week so that was a priority.

Just fogs....

Fogs and CBIs.....

Finally, I installed my bmw performance intake. The one I bought had had a hole cut out on the lower half and I was afraid to drive with it in the event of water splashing up into it. Thanks to Shawn’s insight I was able to use the top half of the perf intake with the lower half of the stock airbox. Just had to modify it a bit to allow the larger filter to fit properly and it’s in. Adds a nice bit of sound.

While the seats were out, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and swapped in a black carpet in place of the beige.

The black carpet is so much better. Are you going to two-tone the door cards?

I also fitted new amber corners and TRS’s led fogs. I wife chewed my ass out for the way they were blinding her when I was driving behind her this week so that was a priority.

The TRS fogs need to be adjusted right out of the gate. They are normally aimed way too high. They can be adjusted pretty easily by loosing the screws on either side and just moving the assembly by hand, and tightening the screws to lock it in place.

Yea it was a quick fix. Really love how they match my CBIs.

Yes the door cards might be another winter project. But for sure they’ll need to get done. Won’t be happy until I have less beige in there. I think we’re all in agreement that beige and grey should have been done the way NB was.

Nice upgrades! How would you rate the heating seats retrofit? Was it difficult? I've seen a few projects somewhere and was thinking of do the retrofit.
Having a heated sets is a must in North east.

Tbh I dont have the technical expertise to tackle the retrofit, so I got in touch with a shop in my area to do it for me. They’re actually a really awesome group of guys and have actually sold a couple of zhps on BaT and built a couple of e46 race cars.
No question the heated seats are needed for the NE. A few weeks ago I was contemplating selling the zhp for something with AWD and an Auto so my wife can drive it. I was (and still am) considering switching to an S3 when the time comes. But if I can at least teach her how to drive stick in the summer it might stay in the garage a bit longer.

Good stuff

Thanks John. Hope you’re not in need of heated seats on the west coast as I was on the east coast.

They actually do help in the cool air coming off the ocean, esp. when the top is down. I know it sounds like I'm trying to be funny but it really makes a big difference. It's all relative. :)

wow I can't believe its been almost 2 years since my last post here. 2020 definitely threw us all a curve ball, and olive wasn't immune to also being affected. OK, here we go. Back in November of 2019 I had to take my daughter to the doctor in an emergency. I realized that day that the zhp isn't exactly the most baby friendly car, especially considering my wife couldn't (and still can't) drive stick. God forbid I was out with her CR-V and she had to get our daughter to the doctor in an emergency, what would she do?
Sooooooooo about two days before Xmas I picked up a CPO Mini Clubman All4 S.
Automatic? Check.
All Wheel drive? Check.
Nav? Check.
BMW quality? Check.
Mini Feel? Check.
Dad-wagon? Check.
After Xmas and after family that was staying with us finally left, I went out to do something to Olive and battery was dead. I pushed it into the garage just to get it out of the way and sadly thats where she still is today. In March COVID was picking up steam and my wife and I decided it was best for me to quit my job and spend the next portion of my life as a stay at home dad. I was able to get a lot of things done around the house over the summer. We're expecting our second child in the next couple of weeks so I didn't want to take on any new projects around the house. So I decided to turn my attention to Olive.

In my last update, I had my heated seats put in and swapped out the beige for black carpet. I began building two tone door cards. The rears were all done but I was having some trouble with the fronts. the first set of fronts had a really poorly deteriorated airbag panel that I just couldn't use. This week I got my ass back in the garage and took another go at them. Im happy to say both fronts are completed and the passenger side is buttoned up. I should have the driver's side done tomorrow.

While I had the front door panels off I took the opportunity of installing my M3 mirrors. I had the passenger side up a couple of weeks ago but wasn't happy with the way it fit. It was also touched up pretty crappy on the base plate.

The clear coat was pealing on my rear bumper so I decided to have it resprayed. while I was packing it up to bring to the shop I removed the M3 mirror and had the redone. It came out looking great. I reinstalled it and it now sits o much better than it did. can't wait together the other side up.

If i can finish the drivers side, and get the rear bumper back up this weekend, I'll try to give her a good wash and snap some pics for everyone.

I really missed participating on the mafia in 2020. I'm looking forward to getting Olive back to her original glory. 2021, im coming for you.

Thanks fredo! Just a waiting game now. I’ll snap pics of the interior tomorrow. Got the second M3 mirror on. Going to clean off the gold Apexs tomorrow and put some air in the tires. Would like to see if my shop can transfer my snow tires over to my winter set for my mini clubman. I’d like to roll olive out of the garage and plan for a nice cleaning day on Wednesday- looks like a sunny autumn day.

Let me just say I’m not at all proud of how she currently sits...

Very very dusty. This is the first time olive is seeing daylight since December. But we’re due for a couple of good stormy days tomorrow and Tuesday and Wednesday is going to be Sunday so by then she should look a lot better.

As dirty as she is, I am happy to report that my M3 mirrors and firmly secured on.

Found the remaining parts I need for the interior on E46fanatics and the batter my is on a tender. Hopefully I’ll be able to fire her up this weekend.

Every car pic should be required to have a rubber mallet in it, be it obvious or hidden in a fun way.

tribute to the church of clarckson. no, in reality i had to use something to knock in the expandable rivet to connect the bumper to the fender liner and i didn't want to use anything that could damage the fresh paint.

Took some pics of how she currently stands. I’ve been using nothing but griots garage stuff for years. I gave it a coat of fast correcting cream, followed by perfecting cream and finished it up with 2 coats of ceramic wax. She’s pretty hydro-phobic at this point lol
