All,
I have a thing about dates. They get stuck in my head, some significant, some not; birthdays, anniversaries, the first time I saw a BMW, etc. I thought I’d start a thread where you could post your BMW-related comments on what happened (to you) on that date.
28 July 2002, 15 years ago today, the last M-Roadster was produced. I am not sure why I remember this or why it matters, but it's in my head.

Tuesday, 28 August 1973. I was in the 8th grade and living in Puerto Rico. Around 5 PM, walking home from school, I saw my first BMW, a 1973 Atlantik Blau 2002...love at first sight. I remember the exact place. In 2009, I visited the lady who had owned it. She told me that she had only recently sold it. When I found the 1974 Atlantik Blau in Atlanta last May, after all the years of searching, I knew it was meant to be.

Monday, 6 September 1982. I was a 22-year-old 2LT at Fort Huachuca, AZ. I spent the holiday weekend with friends in Phoenix and tubing the Salt River in Mesa. On the way back, on I-10 just south of Tucson, my friend Charlie’s Ford Maverick jalopy broke down. Within a few minutes, a BMW 320i, owned by a CPT who’d already done a tour in Germany, pulled over to assist. He offered us a ride back to Ft. Huachuca…my first ride in a BMW.

Awesome story, and thank you for your service. That E21 must've made a good impression on you.

Thanks. It did, and through the 80s and 90s I could only look at BMWs and dream.

10years ago this month I saw my first E46 sedan (2001 325i) coming off a trailer being delivered to a used car dealer I used to work for, It came from SouthBay BMW and was traded in by the original owner. It was steel grey with ZCP, ZCW and was very clean and straight. It was my 2nd Bimmer at that time (wife had an '06 E90) and my first E46.. 10yrs later and 2 E46's after I still own an E46

It was 30 years ago, 12/16/1987, that the last E28 5er left the production plant in Dingolfing.

The very last E28 5-Series to be produced anywhere in the world left the Rosslyn, South Africa plant in December 1989. South African production of CKD (completely knocked down) kit E28s included 96 M5s.

I bought my second BMW on Father’s Day weekend 13 years ago, 2005. It was a 1999 e46. There’s a funny story behind it.
I stopped by on Saturday, test drove, and decided to pull the trigger. We agreed on $10,000 OTD. We were completing the paperwork, and suddenly I got cold feet. I told them I decided to pass and walked away. I thought about it for 2-3 days. Went back to the dealer on Tuesday and told them: I’m ready to buy, but can offer only $9,700 OTD.
They accepted my offer. :roundel

15 August 2018 will become a date in my BMW history. I picked up my ZHP at the vehicle processing center near the San Juan port today and drove it home. It felt good. It was a long-awaited and welcome change. I had been driving my mom's 2012 RAV4.
I dropped it off in Baltimore on 17 July; it arrived last week, but I was not able to get it until today. I've seen lots of BMWs during my first three weeks on the island, but no ZHPs.
Does anyone recall any other Mafia members on the island? Maybe we can a have a two or three-car reunion.

So you did make the move! Reach out to Harry in Humacao - he has a great idea of the BMW population on the island.
