Most of us, it not all of us have had to replace one of these buggers at some point. I've replaced one on my old e36 and my e46 (both front passenger).

So the one I replaced on my e46 broke in less than a year. I bought it from BMA parts, paid aboot 70 bucks. My question is, where is a good place to buy a good replacement? Preferably not OEM, or at least if it is OEM, not super expensive. Hopefully pay aboot the same but better quality. I see tons for sale on amazon for like $30ish, but they of course have mixed reviews. "Works great!". "Lasted only 4 months" etc.

Any leads!?!?!

If you replace a window regulator, you should do the window guide as well. This guide part of the reason the regulators fail so much. The window rubs against the rubber and puts stress on the motor and regulator.

I have plenty of spare OEM parts, for a 4 door, what window?

Has anyone tried the "upgraded" URO window regulator with lifetime warranty?

This is what I have, but even they say you must replace your window guide, otherwise they will not honor the warranty (if I remember reading the slip of paper correctly).

I did not replace my guides because they're so damn expensive, and already hear some slight creaking. I just replaced the regulators in the front in September/October.

I bit the bullet and bought genuine bmw regulators from fcp euro.

IIRC i did the passenger side front back in 2014 and it is still quite. No noises from it and works great. The drivers side front failed in 2015 and I did the same thing as the passengers side. No issues to report.

Not cheap but they have lasted and my wifes uses the windows very frequently.

Which guide/part are you talking about? This piece (linked part is both coupe and side specific): https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-bmw-parts/front-window-guide/51328194735/

The sedan piece I think is much larger. I remember it being over $200...

Only BMW can make a car where it becomes an expensive luxury to open your windows.

Or to drive more than 5 miles a day. I"m not sure why I bother doing oil changes anymore; I put in enough fresh oil between changes to do a change-and-a-half. :shifty

In for deets, noticed my passenger window making an awful crunchy noise when I put it down. Yet another thing to add to the list

Shortly after the crunch comes the broken regulator. Dont use it until you get a new one lol.

So just to share what I ended up doing and the end result.

I was going away on vacation to the beach which meant all windows must go down so we can enjoy the salt air. So I didn't know what to do so figured hey I'll just get something cheap and if it lasts the whole week I'm on vacation great. Then I will figure out what to do as a final solution.

So of all places I went on fleabay and found a regulator with a motor for like $26.00 shipped. It had good reviews from other BMW owners who took a chance so I figured what the heck. Free shipping and 3 days later its at my doorstep. I open the box and inspect it and to my surprise it seems to be of pretty darn good quality. I rip apart my door pull out the broken piece of crap and pop in the new one.

Again i expect it to barely work or sound like it's going to break but it sounds and moves damn good. The motor is strong, the regulator slides pretty good (needed a little extra lube) and so far it seems it may last the week. Seal up the door and a few days later go on vacation.

Long story short, it has been aboot a month now and i use it every day several times a day, and it works just as good as the OEM ones. Best $26.00 fleabay score for an "important" part yet. I don't know how long it will last, but hey we shall see and i will report back.

Lastly here is a link to the seller if anyone else is in need. Deezeeauto

I just put one of the "improved" Uro ones in the passenger's rear of the xi sedan. Cleaned & lubed all the rubber bits. It's working & car is being sold, so all is good!
