alternator/battery problems

So yesterday , I get in my car try to turn it on . Nothing just a click . I check what the voltage was reading n it read 11.1. I end up jump starting it. Read 11.4. So today I replace the battery with a new one and now it reads at 12.1 . But the car did turn on without jump starting it .
But I'm assuming the alternator is going bad and it should read at 13 or higher. Am I correct ?

Probably just need a new voltage regulator. Make sure it has the oval connector and not the square connector.
