Did you go and see this one?

Yeah. It's not worth anybody's time. Especially not for that price. He's been trying to sell it for months now.

Someone asked me about this car via PM few months back so I'll just copy my response.

Seller said (at the time) that he had it over a year but Carfax has him on record for 8 months. He is the 5th owner, it's East Coast car originally. There is a theft and recovery reported on Carfax in 2010.

He doesn't have any service records, only 2 papers from dealer for oil change and something else.
I'm pretty sure he didn't do a thing to that car since he bought it.

He told me that the tires were new, but they are 6 years old and rear ones hit the limiter so they are due to be replaced.

Thing that drove me away the most is the fact that the whole car was repainted with the exception of the roof and trunk lid.
It isn't a bad paint job but you can definitely see some imperfections and flaws. Both front fenders and hood were removed from the car (you can see rust marks on the screws that hold them in place). Front bumper already has some paint chipping and hairline cracks, and missing right fog light cover. Rear bumper also has hairline cracks due to bad paint job on the bumpers most likely. Right side lower skirt has a deep, long scrape.

Most of the parts on the car are original so it will need usual stuff, preventive cooling system maintenance, belts and tensioners, spark plugs, and control arm bushings if memory serves me right.

Has a very cheap and crappy Chinese windshield installed. First thing that I noticed when I got behind the wheel is wavy distortions in windshield right in front of you. He said he never noticed it, something like that would drive me crazy.

I had my ramps with me so I got under the car for inspection. No oil leaks, but A/C line is leaking on compressor and it blows very weak from the center vents on dashboard.

Second thing that I really didn't like is the small amounts of corrosion underneath being that it came from East coast.
Nothing serious but you can see some rust spots on screws/bolts, even on the front of the engine on pulleys and Vanos, water pump...

Seller is a whole different story also.

This one has been up for what seems like forever. All the other manuals that have hit the market in the bay area have sold quick.

I had cash in hand ready to buy the car on Saturday, at the guy's house. Something felt very wrong through, so I walked.

Also, the car did not even have the right plates on it... owner also has 2 older Porsche 911 and an NSX.

Just purchased a black ZHP 4 door instead, 110k miles.

Yeah, it's on Montana plates and when you run them through Carfax it comes up as some Honda. Forgot to mention that.

Ya he also owns that Honda S2000. Claims to have switched the plates accidentally. I asked for a photo of the S2000 with the e46 plates on it and he actually did have it, but still...
