when my driver side mirror went dead the passenger side mirror didnt work.
another time my passenger side mirror would do weird things like not set properly coming back from reverse tilt etc... when i took the door panel off i found the ribbon cable torn causing an issue. I fixed it by cutting them in half and carefully soldering them back together.

The passenger motor is tied to the driver's side motor. If nothing appears to be wrong with the passenger motor in a normal case, then the driver's side should be investigated. If the driver's side doesn't work, chances are the passenger side will be impaired as well.
