View Full Version : Sunroof sunshade doesn't close

Another small nit after dealing with my leaking windshield reservoir today. The sunshield in my sunroof is getting "stuck". When you do the "tilt" on the sunroof, the sunshade is supposed to retract about 4 inches or so. Mine no longer does this, it stays "closed" I have to forcibly pull the sunshade back and it takes a bit of effort. But from that point, I can easily move the sunshade back the rest of the way. Also when starting from the "tilt" position and opening the sunroof, the sunshade retracts no problem.

Any ideas what is getting stuck in those last 4" on the sunshade?

Two plastic tabs on the inside of the panel often get broken. As I recall, they tie in to the mechanical movement which moves the shield panel when you open the roof. They are fairly straightforward to replace. May check for any broken plastic pieces falling down on you which would be evidence that they are broken.

Another reason I do not touch the sunroof in my car. It will eventually break.

Good luck with the fix.

These little things (sunshade, headlight washers) are starting to drive me a little crazy. Good thing I love my car... :)

Thanks for the help and pointers!
