i know its rare but i just have to have it. i saw a whole ZHP for sale in TN that was black on Natural brown. drool.

i see a few door cards on ebay but never the front seats.

what would be the best way to track this set down? i would be ok with piecing it together.

i have my black leather interior, + an M3 coupe black leather interior I could sell + cash as well to get this interior.

I tried looking on an auto recycler website but it was pretty frustrating navigating the site.

I was in your exact predicament for a few years. It took me 4 years to finally source a Natural Brown interior, and boy did I get lucky (full interior with extra bits that I sold to make some of it back).

The problem you're going to run into is the front seats, as you said. In my case, finding sport, heated, front seats with lumbar support was impossible. Luckily the set that I bought had exactly that - with the folding rears! This is something you should pay attention to. If your car has folding rear seats, you need the folding rears; I don't think the folding/nonfolding are interchangeable.

You'll just have to consistently check eBay, craigslist, E46Fanatics, etc. for interior sets that pop up. That really is your best bet...

i dont have heated or lumbar.. just power front seats with memory. also rear are not folding either. so I take it what ever possiblity there is, is now greater for me?

also do you have a project thread that shows your beautiful interior?

would you be able to give me an estimate on around how much you ponied up?

thanks for the replies!

I'd love Natural Brown coupe seats. I think that or cinnamon would contrast Estoril very well. I'm pretty sure I'll be joining you in the hunt in the not so distant future.

I think so... but it's also a limiting factor as well if you happen to find folding seats. It's a lottery, pretty much...

also do you have a project thread that shows your beautiful interior?

Project thread is here, but it's very long and I don't know what pages contain the content you want, so I'll just post some direct pics for you.

I paid $1100 if I remember correctly - that included all the seats, door panels, a dash, door pillars, wood trim, various interior pieces, etc. I sold off the bigger value items and my old alcantara/cloth interior and essentially made money on the deal. :)

mother of god thats beautiful. everything looks so brand new and supple even the steering wheel. did the wheel get recovered and thickened?

im scouring the web and craigslist nationwide in google searches lol. i found a car in NY where he sold the front seats but has the 4 door panels and rest seats for $400 but im sure he wouldnt ship and its expensive.

im wondering if i could get this ebay person:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-2004-BMW-E46-Coupe-Sedan-Sport-Custom-Real-Leather-Seat-Covers-Front-/291984029545?hash=item43fb9ab769:g:UZIAAOSwQPlV~Yc I&vxp=mtr

to make seat covers in the same natural brown leather color.

The steering wheel was purchased brand new last year. It was a lot fresher when those pics were taken. Now, even with a super cleaning, I can't get my wheel to look that good anymore. lol - Funny how that works...

The driver's seat is actually mediocre. Pics don't show it, but it has a lot of cracks. The interior clearly wasn't taken care of by whoever had the car they came out of as they were all pretty much rock hard, which is past the point of rejuvenation. Everything was out of an accident car. You can see some of the cracking in this pic, on the right-side lower bolster - they're all over that bolster, as well as much worse ones on the left bolster. This is right after I did the euro tray and proper armrest delete conversion, not that long ago:

You'd have to send them a sample for them to match, and even then it won't be a 100% match both for color and for leather grain. You can buy new Dakota NB seat covers from BMW, but unfortunately that's a good $1400 per seat... sigh.

There is another way...albeit a more expensive way upfront, and potentially painful... But if you really want Natty Brown, you could always find a ZHP with NB interior, do the interior swap and resell the car. This has actually crossed my mind a couple times recently, I've come across two ZHP's locally with NB interior, I seriously debated buying the car and swapping the interior out. I had NB in my last ZHP, and didn't realize what a unicorn it was until after I sold it. Worst mistake ever.

i found a few recyclers that have the front seats but they are standard seats not sport lol. would be nice t know if i could snag those and reuse the seat covers and install on sport seats.. im sure they wont fit though with the increased bolster sizes in sport seats.

I bought a new shift knob, an F10 illuminated one. It came with an attached leather shift boot, which I made fit the E46 shifter frame.

Natty B is hard to come by. I had the rear sedan seats from a member here and found coupe front seats and was going to put them in my son's car until it was totaled. I think the guy we sold the car to still knows where the interior is if you are interested in it I can put you in touch.

(I also barely missed a NB sedan interior that a member here snagged out from under me by minutes...;-) I know he loves it and I'm happy he has it.

Looking for sedan or coupe? You could buy an entire car.

https://www.panjo.com/buy/fs-2002-325i-sport-cold-pkgs-oxford-green-brown-76k-ct-333315

The fronts would require some work as the stitching is beginning to fail.
I thought about it for my wagon, For me, I doubt the rear would be usable, the fronts need to much work and I already have sport package.
I do like the 2 tone door panels. I wonder if beige would look better 2 tone.
Not related to seller.

That car is actually about an hour from me...

Note that the car is a 2002 so the rear seats do not have the 3rd headrest. Our cars are supposed to have the third headrest due to the model years, but if that doesn't bother you then it's a possibility.

EDIT: Just noticed, the OP can't use the rear seats; these are folding seats. He does not currently have folding seats.

Well, it is the fronts that you're going to have the hardest time finding...
When I was looking I'd find some NB seats, but most of the time they'd be the comfort, non-sport seats. These are sport, and I think they're heated as well (too lazy to look through all the links for the pics lol)...

i looked at all the pics, the driver side seat has the bolster tearing from the seat. definitely needs to be fixed. ill hold off for this.

i just installed a set of black M3 seats in my sedan, that should keep me occupied for a few days while i continue to look lol.

and you are right. im finding quite a few COMFORT NB seats but the sport are harder.

i found a car on COPART where the seats are perfect front (cant tell if its folding or not) and the auction starts tuesday.

Are you willing to buy a whole car for the interior?? I don't think they sell individual parts, only the whole car.

I looked up the VIN - the rear seats shouldn't be folding. It doesn't have cold weather package or the separate folding seats option, so I think they're fixed-back.

I looked at the leathers they have available (it's a link, popup) and it shows Natural Brown in as a selection, though the color on that page doesn't at all match the real NB. Might want to ask about that...

It's pretty damn pricey though, and it still doesn't cover the door panels.

I had Natural Brown in my E91 328i MSport Wagon (xDrive and 6sp MT) and absolutely loved it with the white paint and black trim/headliner. I shed a tear every time I think about the car. Loved it, except for the engine (so disappointing). Good Luck with the search.

They DO exist! Pics of my old Silvergrey on NB ZHP...which I miss dearly, and I never should've sold :( I had no idea what a unicorn I had at the time. I sold it to a guy in GA who had it shipped to him, as seen in the last pic. This thing was wicked clean

Wow! and this car was factory optioned as NB? unicorn status

I know a guy selling NB Recaro Pole Positions if you want to get some front seats first! ;)

Could you PM me the details on these? Are they actually Natural Brown OEM leather, or just a close match?

Natty B is hard to come by. I had the rear sedan seats from a member here and found coupe front seats and was going to put them in my son's car until it was totaled. I think the guy we sold the car to still knows where the interior is if you are interested in it I can put you in touch.

I have a coupe and have been searching for Natural Brown front seats, as the ones I purchased are pretty beat up. Any chance you could put me in contact with him?

I have seen a few beat up Zhp's for sale with decent NB interior. I plan to just buy one of those and part it out or swap the interior and re-sell it. Seems drastic, but might be the easiest way, maybe the only way.

Edit: once I get another zhp of course :impatient

ok so with the help of User KTS317 he found someone on Facebook group in PA that had a full interior they were selling.

seller initially said yes but then back pedaled about parting the car out, then today they said yes to sell it.

it was pricey and not in perfect condition. $1100 plus shipping which was a little over $400 ouch....

here are pictures below. Does anyone know if the driver side bolster can be saved or rejuvenated with maybe leatherique? do they make this matching color?

Im excited, but i have got used to the M3 seats and the tight bolsters.. are the sport seats bolsters anywhere near as tight as the M3 seats? my old sport seats were very worn so the M3 seats were night and day once in.

pictures are from seller still dirty and in the original car. hopefully it gets shipped out this week.

Regarding the driver side bolster I don't think it can be made better by leatherique etc. you can try and make sure it doesn't get worse but don't think cracked leather can be restored to its original state...
Also I don't think even sport seats are as comfy as m3 seats. I don't have the seat time but is based on what others have said...

The driver's seat is pretty rough. The price is too high considering the driver's seat isn't presentable. I bought my entire interior for that price, which is in better shape AND came with a bunch of extras (interior pieces) that I made over a couple of hundred bucks on.

What state do you live in? Perhaps it's worth packing that stuff in a U-Haul and driving it to wherever you are, as long as it's not on the other coast.

well its too late now, done deal and I snagged it already.

what are my options now for that driver seat?

i have a free color swatch on order from that ebay seller for leather seat covers. im going to match it to the NB seats and if i find one that matches well or near perfect, I may order new seat covers for the M3 seats and recover them myself since its not that hard with hog ring pliers and new hog rings.

those seat covers go for 325 i believe.

I could potentially sell the NB sport seats??

or could take the NB sport seats to a upholstery shop and let them fix it with matching leather possibly?

redying them possibly?

the door panels looked fine and the other seats looked fine just needed some cleaning up.

i could potentially swap the passenger and driver seats??

I knew they werent in great condition driver side wise but the whole interior is so hard to come by i just wanted to get it :/

I will say it's a pretty clear difference between ZSP (non-M sport seats) and M3 seats in terms of the side bolsters, at least for me. I have the adjustable side bolsters in my M3 seats so I'm not sure how non-adjustable M3 side bolsters are. It's also probably a more significant difference for me than the average person because I'm a 6'+ slender guy with a relatively narrow waist/trunk; I can fit in some pants that are size 30. As a result, I slid around a fair bit in the factory sport seats. In my M3 seats I've pumped up the side bolsters pretty big to hold me in place. It would be very tough to go back to sport seats now that I have my M3 seats, even for a full NB interior.

One of my favorite upgrades, absolutely recommend it (Peter actually talked me into it originally I believe). I had back pain on longer trips in the sport seats since my car didn't come with the Premium Package i.e. lumbar support. My M3 seats are powered lumbar, side bolster, and heat and long trips are a breeze :biggrin

Yeah, the sport seats work fine for most people. They were fine for me around town, but anything over an hour or so and my lower back would start to hurt.

If you did part out your NB interior you could try finding an M3 Cinnamon interior, but that's usually pretty pricey. Or you can go really loud and go for a red interior (I almost did that).

i was looking at cinnamon, but it doesn't look close to being a match with NB when they are next to each other. i wanted to just get Cinnamon M3 seats or seat covers and keep the NB door cards and rear seats if they matched better.

Did think about it and if I had black or grey interior I would've been looking for an m3 interior swap. But I kinda like the NB contrast with the black exterior. I could maybe pay a little more and get the cinnamon and imola interior as you said and sell my NB for a descent price as it's in pretty good shape but I decided against it since I've never felt uncomfortable even after driving for 6 hours continuously. I may change my mind once I get to experience the m3 seats but until then I think il stick with what I have...

Yeah, unfortunately the M3 cinnamon is a few shades different from NB and would certainly bug me to mix the two. Would work easier on a coupe to do a full interior swap than the guys with sedans.

That said, I most likely would have stuck with my sport seats if I didn't have back pain from extended trips. But I don't regret the switch at all. I just need to recoup the cost by selling my factory interior when I move back to Portland (anyone searching for an absolutely pristine black coupe interior? hint hint :biggrin)

Also, sorry to thread jack...I can get sidetracked.

So my seats came in yesterday via Greyhound. the seats and panels actually dont look bad for coming from a 2002 car. they FEEL worse than they look. they are very dry and stuff. Maybe im just used to the M3 Seats that have Nappa leather and E46 seats are montanna leather which is a bit stiffer.

I talked to Leatherique back and forth with pictures etc and they believe the seats just need rejuventor so i got their cleaner/rejuvenator kit and will wait for a warm sunny day to oil them up.

im definitely a bit bummed with the quality of the seats for the money but its all said and done now and might as well make the best of it.

I just cleaned my NB set this past weekend from what it seems a decade of no cleaning from the previous owner, I did some research on how to clean the leather without compromising it and ended up buying the Meguiar's all purpose cleaner. I did a 10:1 dilution and used a leather brush I bought from Amazon to evenly clean the NB. The results are better than I expected and I let it sit for a day before I used the lexol conditioner. The leather is stiff but I can't do anything about that anymore except to condition it consistently. I'll post pics on my thread for reference.

Don't hold your breath on the Leatherique. My seats were also cardboard hard and a couple of applications of Leatherique only made them ever so slightly better, but still are stiff for the most part. Once it gets that hard, it stays that hard. (That's what she said)

Please do! I am looking forward to that.

Why do you think that is? What were these seats like brand new? My M3 seats are from a 2002 M3 and they are so soft. its like a completely different type of leather, it doesnt even have the grain in it, very smooth feeling and looking.

Also, how do I know for sure my seats and interior is natural brown and not tan?

i swear my seats look more tan than natural brown.

i see seats like this and mine are not that orange/brown.

Make sure you are not looking at pictures that are color corrected. I went back a few posts and saw the pics you posted that you got from the seller and they seem like they are NB...

the pictures i posted from the seller are more orange then the actual seats i got. Since I have never seen an actual NB seat in person, all i have go to on are pictures most likely over saturated.

I will take pictures of my seats in good light with proper white balance and make sure they look in pictures just as they do to my eyes and get them posted soon.

That Google image of the tan interior is not a stock interior. That one has been two-toned after the fact, and is Ryan's car. She is an OG member here, isn't active anymore.

A telltale for the Natural Brown interior is the door cards. They have NB centers and the rest is black. The grey and tan interiors have door cards that are entirely the color of the entire, not two-toned. Tan is significantly lighter than NB, and has a matching dash (lower part is that color instead of all black) as well as matching center console. NB interiors all have entirely black dashes and black consoles. Tan interiors have the same colored black plastic trims that house the seat buttons, while NB interiors have a black plastic. Finally, NB has black carpet, while the tan interior has beige carpet.

NB is incredibly hard to get an accurate picture of as it looks different in every picture.

M3 interiors are Napa leather which is different from other E46s.

And I agree with everyone that the natural brown interior is awesome. Loving the contrast in my ZHP.

This guy is selling natural brown rear seats and door panels. No sign of front seats anywhere. But he's asking 100 for the door panels and 120 for the rear seat setup. Not awful.

So i want to sell my M3 Sedan seats and with back seats and all 4 door cards minus the silver cube trim.. .how much do you think I could sell that set for or should list it at starting?

back seats are obviously good, front seats are nice, no rips or tears and good bolsters on both seats.

BMWCurves

Depends. I picked up my M3 interior for $1100 and it was in very good shape, minus some shady stuff about claiming the driver's seat bolster pump was repaired (hint: it wasn't). I listed my original interior that was in very good shape for $1k and I had a buyer in Portland but we couldn't figure out a way to meet before I had to head back to the east coast.

For the most part! Heated and power but no lumbar :( also, I have folding rear seats and this seat is a non rear folding but ski pass. I'll have to make them fold somehow. We will see.

This might be a problem for you... the folding rears are kept in place by latching onto the catches that are there. I don't think the non-folding rears have that, so there might not be a way to properly mount the seat backs. I'm not too sure how the non-folding rears normally mount.

Yeah and this rear seat doesn't have the gray carpet backing like mine does, just foam. I'm going to pull them both and compare. My friend is parting out a fold-down sedan and is willing to let me pull what I need off the rear seat.

There is a DIY guide on retrofitting fold-down seats into a fixed seat car so I might be able to take some notes from there, too.

I should probably label this NSFL. I went by LKQ to look for a couple of things and stumbled upon this:

Honestly the door card inserts looked pretty good, and the back seat and headrests might be save-able. Front seats (non-sport) were toast. If anyone wants to take a chance on any of it, let me know and I'll go back.

Sure will do! The dye comes in tomorrow but since there's a big snowstorm coming in tomorrow, I doubt he'll be receiving the dye. Ethier way everything looks like it's going well and the guy is going through with the plan. We met over Instagram and he's doing everything at his house. So you could see why I wouldn't be 100% sure that the whole transaction would happen. I'll take pictures and write something up when the whole process starts. I bought Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner and Conditioner with a Leather cleaning brush. So I'll do a before and after with that and continue the write off with the dye and process later on! With plenty of pictures for everyone.
