View Full Version : Anyone have a recommended set of floor mats either OEM or aftermarket?

So after 11 years my floor mats finally bit the dust, literally. The whole backing turned to dust.
Anyway its time to get some new ones and I don't really want OEM ones because of the known issues so I am looking for some recommendations on aftermarket.
Anyone find aftermarket ones that are as nice as OEM but don't have the backing issues OEM ones do?

That would be a ditto here, same issues with the backing coming off.

Some dude gave me the OEM all weather rubber ones. Those are pretty good. Holding up decently.

I bought the following OEM rubber mats, since I prefer rubber over cloth anyway. There's also Weathertech if you want something more "all weather" ready, but more pricy.
https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-340015-genuine-bmw-all-weather-rubber-floor-mats-e46-3-series/?pdk=AgI
Also, there was recently a thread about the cloth ones being possibly updated:
http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?18852-OEM-velcro-backed-floor-mats-with-quot-BMW-quot-Healpad
For cloth mats many people also like the cocomats, which are a good amount more expensive.

Damn the new backing looks awesome. I guess for $95 its worth a try.

I would double check with them to make sure about the backing.

I have WeatherTech. Absolutely love them and definitely prefer them over the OE rubber mats I had before.

I have WeatherTech (laser scanned) on front and OEM all rubber on rear. Very happy with this combo.
I started with a full set of WT, but the rear ones tend to slide and I didn't like that.

I have some sisal ones I'm willing to part with as I sold the car they were in. Not in perfect shape put lots of miles left.
(Two driver's side).
I have the same ones in my car.

Cocomats. From cocomats.com, not some cheap imitation. Been using them for about 12 years now in a bunch of cars. They're absolutely outstanding, the the construction quality is second to none.

I can only echo this.
I've had experience with cloth, oem rubber mats, and now weathertech.
Weathertech is hands down, the best i've tried so far. Pretty easy to keep clean, and the way they're shaped, any street grime or water collects down at the bottom.
They might not look the best, but they certainly get the job done well.

My only issue with the WeatherTechs is that when your shoes are wet, they slide on the mats when trying to get out of the car. That was a rather unpleasant surprise when I installed them. It doesn't happen very often though, so it's only a small gripe.

Second the Cocomats, best looking, highest quality out there bar none. I've had them in all my BMWs. Rubber all weather mats do serve a purpose and have Weathertech in my wife's van, but for looks AND durability: Cocomats.com

Do Cocomats retain water? Of course the guy in Seattle has to ask this right? lol

As good as a Weathertech floor liner?? No, but they are rubber backed so they will do as good as a regular all-season mat.

I'm really eyeballing the laser cut weather tech ones, they are just what I need.

Spray with something to add grip?

Spray and watch it wear off. Nah, I'll just deal with it.

I'm going with Coco mats. I'm giving my Weathertechs to Justin. I'm going with black over natural (02).

My new OEM BMW matts just showed up in the mail today. They have the new awesome backing, I don't know why they didn't use that 15 years ago. Awesome!

I've had about 6 sets in 6 different cars now. I usually go with a matching color + black. It's been a pretty easy decision, ALWAYS happy with the results. Great product.

New OEM matts are awesome, the backing should last forever.
