Hey guys! I just became a member yesterday, but I have been lurking on here since I got my ZHP. My name is Abe. I purchased my 2004 DS 330i 6 speed with black leather interior on September 29th which is my birthday. It's going to be my daily driver. I also have an 89 e30 which is my show car. Her name is Eve =]

Since then I have been modding it. First things first was getting rid of all the amber and replacing the horrible headlight lenses. I bought all euro clear corners, side markers, red and clear tails, and new lenses. Then I got a front plate delete trim.

I also sprayed the lower grill because it was faded grey. The windshield cowl was trashed so I bought a brand new one.

The front seat, arm rest, ebrake handle and cup holder were reallyworn so I got new ones from my buddies recently crashed zhp. Also purchased a new zhp weighted knob and euro tray

Next on the list is maintenance. She needs a vanos rebuild, motor and trans mounts and an air pump. Then after all that is finished I can start with the suspension. Will be ordering coilovers and any other components that might need to be addressed.

Really like your E30, too. I will have to own one at some point.

Thanks man! And yes I am. I'm super OCD lol. So all the little cosmetic issues were bothering me. And since the car is my daily I need it running 100%. I'm having the infamous vanos idle fluctuation and the power loss/ jerking from 1-3500 rpm. I've already replaced the maf with a new oem maf. Since the previous owner put a crap aftermarket one. It was throwing a code. I thought that would fix my issue but it's the vanos for sure. And e30's are amazing little cars. This is my 4th one.

Update! 12/15/16

So, I picked up a UUC TSE3 exhaust the other day and a UUC Magnesium front strut bar as well. Love the sound! It's not as loud as the 325i car it came off of for some reason. But hopefully it gets louder lol Also installed a K&N drop in filter.

I haven't installed mine yet (I'm going to school in DC and I opted to leave my car back home in Portland). I was hoping to install it over Christmas, but I don't think I'll have the time. It'll most likely wait until the summer.

Little update! 12/31/16 So I took the car to the dealer for all 3 recalls to get fixed. Driver/Passenger airbags and rear tail light ground. She's good as new! While I was getting those issues resolved, my passenger front window regulator decided to take a crap on me. But on the bright side my window still works, it just pops when you use it. I'm going to take it apart to see what the damage is. Also, my gf got me a set of Coby Wheel Oem grey alcantara boots for Christmas =]. My original boots were a bit worn out. In the next couple of weeks I will be addressing all the maintenance issues the car has.

Parts ordered:

Besian Vanos rebuild kit with rattle rings
Oem head to vanos gasket
Oem valve cover gasket
Oem Lemforder e46 m3 motor and tranny mounts

UPDATE 2/11/17 Just a little update on the ZHP. Since I have been leaving my car outside, I noticed my pillars were beginning to wrinkle towards the bottom. I took on the job of taking them off and redoing them. Good as new!

Also picked up an AFE Stage 1 intake. This thing sounds killer and looks great in the bay.

Next on the list will be installing my headers and UUC Wilwood BBK kit. Just need to get a tune first and order new rotors and pads.

Dear lord that’s clean! Two questions:

(1) how much fender work did you need to fit those 9.5 ET35s all the way around? Pulling, or just rolling?

(2) what can you tell me about that splitter? My biggest gripe with most lips/splitters is they don’t follow the M-Tech 2’s contour, leaving a huge gap in the middle. Yours looks to not have that issue, and I think it’s going to look fantastic.

Hey dude, thank you! Not much fender work was needed to be honest. I cut out the rears and slightly rolled the fronts. Almost no rub, only on super nasty bumps in the rear. And about the splitter, fitment is amazing and there's no gap in the middle, it flows perfectly with the bumper and best of all it looks killer. Working on hardware for it right now. I want it to be as solid as possible so it doesn't get ripped off easily. I'm actually in the process of making a couple just to test waters and see If people happen to like them. If so I will mass produce. Going to make different styles as well and possibly side skirt extensions. I will post pictures as soon as I get it mounted. Hopefully next week.

No waving of any kind. Nothing was rolled back there just cut out. It honestly looks like they have never been touched. I’m surprised it isn’t common on this forum. You wouldn’t believe the amount of room you get from cutting the rears out. At least an inch or more of clearance.

Hey guys, happy new year! Just wanted to show some of the new items I purchased and installed on the zhp. I saw this on ECS on sale for the holidays, so I had to purchase it. Ecs billet oil dip stick. I think it looks a lot better than the plastic oem one.

Then I decided to finally install my headers and SAP delete. What a pain in the butt! 8 hours later. Yes I do have a SEL light but I will be getting tuned soon. The car got a lot more torque and pulls harder I think.

I ordered an alcantara arm rest from Coby wheel as well. Still need to install it on my car.

And I'm currently working on a sponsorship for a set of these in grey alcantara to match all my alcantara goodies. =)

wow, that sounds awesome! definitely a bit loud for me, but still, awesome. i wonder how it would sound with a stock ZHP exhaust of BMW Performance muffler...

also, love the ARC-8s and the way it is sitting - looks fantastic. how much fender rolling did you have to do? and are you running 245/35/18's?

Sounds loud, but I like it.
SAP delete is a good idea. I made a mistake when I changed my failed SAP two years ago. I wasn't able to find somebody who can code the car for SAP delete.
Do you have a SEL on because of headers?

He hasn't coded out the SAP yet. Also, the secondary O2 sensors need to be coded out since there are no cats.

Abe, Do you have the full exhaust or just the muffler? The sound clips I've heard of the full exhaust with headers sound much louder than that...

Thanks man! I love it.

Thanks man! It definitely wouldn’t sound loud at all with stock exhaust lol As far as my fitment goes, I rolled the fronts and shaved/cut the rears. I’m on a 235/40/18 all around. Slight rub only on huge dips.

Thanks dude! The SAP was definitely a must. Mine was failing so I just got rid of it. My car runs a lot better now. And no coding has been done yet for the SEL. Waiting to get tuned.

Hey man, I do have the full exhaust system. For some reason when I uploaded the vids to Flickr it killed the sound quality and made it sound more quiet. It’s definitely way way louder than that. I have the same clips on my Instagram if you want to check it out. And other I forgot to post on here. Instagram- @e30abe89

Lol I thought so! That's why I sold my TSE3 to San when I put my headers on. I have the stock ZHP exhaust and it's very quiet. I'm probably going to swap out for a magnaflow with an extra resonator in the spring

I’ve been debating of getting rid of it for a borla. But not sure yet lol. Idk how you supercharged guys can run the stock exhaust stilll. I would be trying to get the most power out of my car. That’s why I’m getting the 8.5 pulley upgrade for the TS2 lol I think that’s the main reason I haven’t sold the exhaust yet. More power! Haha

So, I just ordered some side skirt extensions and rear side diffusers from diffusersandmore.com. Great quality products. Here are some examples since mine aren’t finished being made yet.

Rear bumper side splitters. I'm doing the sides only no diffuser.

yea I thought the ZHP exhaust flowed pretty well but then I read that Ryan lost 20 hp from the TS2 when he swapped the magnaflow for the Borla (which he says he's almost got all back from tuning with a new tuner) I'm going to try the Magnaflow to see if I can deal with it because of the increased flow/hp even though the Borla sounds amazing. He said the Magnaflow has 2.5" pipes and the Borla has 2"

What pulley is that? the 83 mm? I'm running that pulley. It didn't seem to make any difference on my car using my ass in the seat dyno and the real dyno.

Exhausts make a big difference most definitely. I didn't know that the Borla was half an inch smaller compared to the magnaflow. 20hp is a lot of loss. Jeez! Another idea I had was to just replace the muffler section for a Borla and keep the rest of my UUC piping. I wonder how that would sound.

I toyed with that idea too but then came to the conclusion that the system was worth a lot more money complete and I didn't want to spend a lot of money trying to figure out what would work with the TSE3. I even posted on the FI forum over on e46f. No one had a good answer or suggestion so I sold/traded with San for the ZHP exhaust until I could figure out what will work...

I saw that thread lol I have literally checked every vid on youtube and every forum post on google and nothing. Everyone just seems to sell and go magnaflow or stock. I found one guy that installed two AR20 rasp eliminators but he didn't post a video. He said it was still as loud but had less rasp. Which is what I want. But I figured there would be power loss, not to mention I didn't want to cut up the exhaust.

And not sure on the sizing of the pulley but its their 500 dollar option. My buddy said it made a huge difference on his TS2. He has a UUC exhaust like me though with headers and intake.

Hmm that option recommends cams and includes further tuning.... I wonder what he he did besides just swapping the pulley...

Naw man no cams needed. His motor is bone stock. He just has full bolt ons that it’s. And Ess gave him a new tune for the 8.5psi

I'm glad it worked out for him. Both Ryan and I haven't had such good luck with AJ tuning our cars. I think Ryan has been through about 12 tunes so far and I'm up to 6.
I'm still not happy with where the AFR is but I'm waiting until I get a new exhaust and I'm redesigning the intercooler system with a Ford Lightning intercooler and an overflow tank so I can be sure the system is purged of air and properly cooled for the hot as hell summers down here. Once I get that done, I'll start the tuning process again...

What's an overflow tank? Is that a chamber that holds coolant that would otherwise boil over from high pressure?

Jesus! 6 and 12 tunes? I pray to god that I don’t run into that situation. I’ll be pissed. But with my luck I’m sure I’ll have trouble too Lol.

Yea it's not fun or cheap since he wants a dyno run with AFR after each update. It's $100 for each 3 pull dyno session down here. At Ryan's suggestion, I got bytelogger software and used his spreadsheet conversion to get AFR from the O2 sensor voltage. Also got timing and throttle position amongst other things. Saved me a lot of money. The only downside to that is you have to top out the car in 4th gear to get accurate load readings and as you know, that's well over 100 MPH on the street. Not something I want to do on a regular basis.
