I've never r/r a clutch. Feel I need to start looking into one with 160k and a little chatter starting. I'll have to research and get smart to know what in looking at here.

you'll need the two pieces above, plus a new flywheel (the rubber dampers on the DMF tend to wear out and cause vibration and lots of noise at idle, so it is a good idea to replace it), and a throwout bearing. and new flywheel bolts too.

Peter, I don't know what dmf/smf is. Can you explain please, the dumbed down explanation would be best. :)

SMF = Single mass flywheel
DMF = Dual mass flywheel

ding ding! thanks BP.
the idea of the DMF is to reduce drivetrain vibrations.
i haven't read any reviews on the new valeo SMF kit so i have no idea if the 24# SMF is going to chatter or not, but the lighter aluminum SMFs from JB Racing or UUC do apparently chatter a lot. but some folks think that is because of their light weight, and the fact that they are made of aluminum - apparently heavier steel SMFs don't chatter.
we'll see when i get it installed! :cheers

I seriously doubt this will work in S54 applications but I'm interested in hearing what others have to say on this...

if you're using the getrag box, no, it won't fit - different spline count.
if you used the ZF box, then yes, you could. but you would need to use an S54 flywheel.

I thought the input shafts are different length too?

i think so, as the clutch pilot bearing for the ZF box is in the flywheel, and for the getrag box it's on the end of the crankshaft.
anyway... BUMP this thing up, it's still for sale! :)

If anyone has doubts about the clamping force of the stock clutch, I have about 143k and a TS2 SC on the car with the original clutch... no problems at all

yep, 6-speed and made by LuK for valeo, so yeah, OE.
would be a good idea to replace the throwout bearing at the same time.

yep, paypal is fine and yes, happy to ship there. you're not far from nate and spenser!

haven't done the conversion yet, it will go in when my drivetrain swap happens in the Touring (soon, just so many little things in the way right now). my main concern is the chatter from the SMF... we'll see.

Really? We all should look into a get together once ive mine back up and running! And yes. I battled internally so deeply with dmf vs smf. In the end. I feel i will gain more pleasure from quality coils (already have koni yellows). All in all its a daily. (Also my reasoning for not just jumping into a true swap now instead of later)
