Hi everyone!
Introducing myself to the zhpmafia community is a bit of self-actualization... let me explain :)
A brief history: My first bmw was an incredible '91 318is.. I drove that car for about 8 whole years (HS & college before it was time for a newer one.
Then entered a '98 328is, with about 72k miles. It was a fantastic car for the two years I had it, but unfortunately lost it to a freak electrical fire back in June of this year :eyetwitch
So, I lived car free for about 4 months by working from home and cycling everywhere through the summer heat, and constantly pouring over craigslist, autotrader, forums: you name it. I was trying to scope out all of my options within the budget.
After my E30, i wanted to own a ZHP so badly- primarily due to knowing they had a community behind them and they looked fantastic, but they were slightly out of my budget's reach.
My Dad, also an enthusiast, coached me through the whole process. We constantly held dialogue about which BMW would be the "best one" for me, bouncing car finds back and forth to each other via email.
I couldn't bring myself to daily some kind of beast like an M3, or something ultra-modern and common like an e90 (a 335i was on the table at multiple points).
I needed a car that ticked all the boxes. One that I could daily and would tickle my enthusiast sensibilities, so to speak.
Now to present day I've purchased, and have been incredibly fortunate to be living with a '03 330i ZHP MT. It has 89k on the clock, and full maintenance records. Late last month, this one popped up in my hometown and we were able to snag it.
Needless to say, I am head over heels. I've been inspired to invest in tools to DIY the maintenance and dig into the e46 platform.
If you happen to be in the Cincinnati, OH area (and beyond), I'd love to meet some folks- send me a PM!
