I'm looking for a 2004 or newer stereo for my car, one with the functional AUX input in the back. My last WTB thread here: http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?15331-WTB-BMW-Business-CD53-04-and-up

I've purchased two off of Craigslist now that don't work. My car is an '01 so it does not have the AUX jack on the back. Only other requirement aside from being an '04+ unit, is the knob must be solid. I don't want a jiggly/broken knob. An issue we all know too well with the crappy knob design of these stereos. Thanks

Also, I've heard different things about the newer units not functioning correctly in older cars like mine? Something about the passive amp is different? See this thread http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?15245-Auxiliary-Input-Retrofit-Kit/page2

Is this true?

From my understanding your car is not compatible with the 2002+ radio, which unfortunately is the only one with the option for the Aux retrofit.

I think your best bet would be to get an aftermarket deck that already has the Aux input available.

Well shit... I like the OEM look, so I guess I'll just have to deal with the radio and cd's then. Or buy an '04 ZHP, that could also work

Thanks for the input fellas

I approve of buying yourself a ZHP, it's worth the aux. :grooving

Alternatively if you're wanting to maintain an OEM look I know there are multiple units such as the AVIN Avant II that are designed with an OEM look but add a touchscreen/Bluetooth capabilities - at a price.
