View Full Version : Should I consider a High Mileage 2004 330i M Performance?

It has 239,000KM. It's selling for about half price from a dealer due to the high mileage. I'm also not sure about the package. I'm trying to get the VIN and I'm supposed to go see it tomorrow. The Dealer drives it daily. There is a engine light on but he says he will fix it... $7500 CAN. I have to pay 8.5% QST on Blue Book value which is about $16500 and 5% tax to the dealer... No rust... There is another Canadian ZHP with Alcantara but he's asking for $15600, only 5%tax though.

Any Thoughts? What should I llook for iwhen I go see the high mileage one???

THANKS
Danny

It's an Xi.......does not have performance package. It has style 68 wheels, ///M steering wheel and MT II front bumper.

It's an auto bro. You'll have $7500 CAN headache imho, especially because of the miles.

Something funny is going on with this car. I could be OTL also though. Some other peeps will reply.

Looks lik that is a 330xi with a sport pack. Canada must have gotten MtechII aero kit with their sports package

Thanks for the replys and the welcomes. I did mean XI. I agree that it looks like a sport package, a previous owner must have changed the bumper and wheel or maybe it's a m-tech I package with an upgraded bumper. The dealer never answered my email asking for the VIN.
I was originally looking for and would be happy with a 330i with Sports Package and low mileage, I have to go auto because of the wife but I fugure steptronic is not so bad.

Danny...read that FAQ. Marcus recently did a bunch of research on Canadian ZHP's.

This is the one I really want, looks like a ZAM (Canadian ZHP), but the price is too steep for my budget. He's asking $15900 CAN, I would offer $12K and may be willing to go up to $13K but I can't bring myself to calling him with that offer (lowball?). Private sale so only one tax. It'a an auto.

No, not n extra wheel, my mistake, I was translating his ad from French, anyway I think he was pointing out the ZAM differences. Not sure if the winter "wheels" are mags or not but definatly an extra!

What are your thoughts about offering $3900 under his asking price?? There are some ZAMs in Canada which currently around 13K asking price, some with lower mileage but it would be a 6 hour drive just to see one. More ZAMs in Ontario rather that Quebec.

Danny, nothing wrong with offering what you want to pay. He'll either reject or accept. Stick to your budget. Don't pay more than you want to pay. Maybe he'll counter and you'll accept. Give it a whirl.

I think I'm answering my own question...I should give it a shot. I will go see the $7500 fake M Tech tomorrow, I'll be sure to get the VIN.
If it was maintained properly could it still be a solid car? Somehow I doubt that used car dealer will have records, I could get to the bottom of it all with the VIN tho..

I'll let you guys know.

Hi Danny, i'm a new ZHP ( ZAM ) owner, also in Quebec Canada. I will not speak french for the other members to understand. I've done a lot of search about this car. I searched a performance package for 1 year and I finally found it. They are very rare in Quebec. I saw 4 of them for sale in 1 year in Quebec province. I paid 19300 for a 2004ci 6spd with 94000 kilometers. The car was stored inside in the winter so the car is in great shape.

I think 16000$ is a fair price. My insurance company told me my car was still listed 23000 $ with average mileage.

Be sure it's a real ZAM, sport package are really different and they are not rare here in Quebec.

Good luck, and if you buy one, you'll not regret it.

Welcome to the site.

Agree on it being a $7500 CAN headache. I'm having issues with my car...wishing it was easier to work on like my e30.

Good luck on the other one. Make an offer...see if it works...

But if you really want the car...you don't want to alienate him either. I think there is a balance.

I know I've mentioned it before, but when I had to remove the intake manifold from my Mazda just to change spark plugs, I really began to appreciate the E46 platform from a maintenance standpoint.

My 03 Nissan Altima V6 is the same way. I really appreciate the maintenance standpoint of my e46.

OP I would not hesitate buying a high mileage e46. You should budget for repairs. Cooling system and suspension.

Thanks for all the replies! I guess it comes down to you get what you pay for. I don't mind if it needs maintenance repairs I can do myself with a buddy like a water pump, bushings, brakes, as long as it's not too costly.
