When changing out the brake fluid using a power bleeder (Motive), is it customary to include the clutch in the mix? If so, where in the order would it be inserted? Before or after left-front?
Thanks!

You don't need to bleed the clutch as long as the line line doesn't go dry.

When I flushed my system I did RR, LR, clutch, RF, LF. If you're flushing your system why not flush it all?

Sort of my feeling. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, it needs to be changed at regular intervals. Why not change it all out? But I'm sure you could get by without it.

The tools came today. The fluid (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00610SK2S/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) should be here Wednesday.
Gonna blow it all out, brakes & clutch. I know it's been done at least once by the previous owner, but there is no notation in his service logs which fluid he used - DOT 4 or DOT 4 Class 6 (low viscosity). I need the Class 6 because of DSC.
Which brings to mind this gem of a post. (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?8918-CDV-Hydraulics-Explained&p=278434#post278434) Two years ago member wsmeyer went the extra mile and did the research to nail down the correct brake fluids for our cars, then shared that research with the community. The info was there for any of us to grab and use, but he did the legwork and put it all together in definitive fashion. Props!
I run a little bass guitar forum down the road and one of our tenets is shared knowledge. One guy knows something that someone else is a little weak on, but that guy is really deep into another aspect, and so on. We all end up to be collective braniacs. Nice to see that same idea here.

That same thread is why I picked Pentosin DOT4 LV for what is in my car. Tons of people run regular DOT4 with no issues, but since I don't track it, I figure why not stick with what BMW recommends?

The bleeder screw on the clutch is a smaller size than the brake bleeders if you weren't aware. Can't recall for certain but it might be a 6 mm for the clutch and 8 mm for the brakes.

Good info, thanks! If I remember (a feat in itself), it'll save me a trip out from underneath!
BTW - are they still square after all these years?

I've used this in my non-ZHP E46s. No mention of low-viscosity, but it is "high performance!"
