View Full Version : How to get solenoids off of VANOS

Chris @ DrVanos got back to me saying they're now clear coating all solenoids on their M54 VANOS units. He offered to send me two solenoids that are clear coated to replace my rusting ones.

How difficult is it to get them off? The intake side doesn't look too bad, but the exhaust side is pretty far down there. Has anybody done that before?

Nice of them. But iirc, the lower one is a PITA.

I had to remove mine when I did my Dr Vanos because they were clogged.

Channel locks for sure, Kokesh did the dirty work for me if I remember correctly.

Adjustable width pliers.

Better yet get some LOCKING pliers, Irwins or something should do.
