Then you spend the next half hour wondering if any of your suspension is broken...

There is a back road in my area that has three whoops in a row spaced probably 70 yards. The last one is like a sheer cliff drop off and it's served best at 80mph.

There's a hill like that around where I live too. I call it the ramp that broke my e39's suspension. It was also served best at around 80mph. It was great because it had two hills. One hill you went up, caught no air, dug down into the slope of the next one and then you consequently got shot into the air at the end when it evened out. It was great.

I haven't hit it in my ZHP. I drive normally over it :shifty

On another note, I had a unique opportunity to test drive my best friend's Audi last week when I was in Jacksonville, FL on a business trip. It was a fantastic car and ride!!! I was excited about it afterwards and texted a few friends to show them the car....it was fun ;)

Ry, I think you are right about the engine....all I can say is that this engine has an 8100 rpm red line just like my ///M and man does it sound like a real race car at that rpm! It was a lot of fun :biggrin Yes! I had a grin on my face when I drove her...;)

Thanks Sean! I would love to have this car but the way most people drive up here, I'd be a nervous wreck. The price for one of these would give me an awesome down payment for an awesome house....the funny thing is that when I drove my friend's R8, he was talking crazy shit. Talking about getting a Ferrari F450 for his next car....yep...I'll get a crack at that as well if he gets it....I have driven all of his cars for the past 20 years now...;)

The V10 is definitely the better motor for the R8. And chances are, the buyer who gets the car new wont have an issue dropping the extra $30k for it.

I'm pretty serious about wanting one. I would like one that needs work, but not too much, if that makes sense. I just have no idea when we'd be able to afford one in that condition. We also want to get another "romper" BMW so Kyle and I can go on spirited drives together. Just not sure which we'll get first. There is a 3.0 CS for sale in the BMW CCA classifieds, but we're just not ready to do it now and I think it's more work than I'd be able to do.

From the conversations I've had with him about E9's you should be able to find a decent running one that lived its life in the southwest (rust free) in the $10-15k range... full restoration is another story.

The CSL in the second picture you posted is easily a $150k car, and if it was blue with full Batmobile wings you're talking $250k and up

I don't think there are many that don't need work and/or aren't already restored (at least partially). Like I said, a decent running E9 should be $10-15k. The nicer it is, the bigger the price tag. Basically, what kind of budget are you willing to deal with?

Edit: the two that Norman is selling in the current issue look decent to me (p123, 72 3.0 or 71 2800, both $9k obo). I would be all over the 71 Nachtblau with what I'm guessing is a M30B35 swap, 5MT, SSK, 4 wheel discs

Edit 2: Talked to Carl, he's seen pictures of those two cars. He said he wouldn't pay over $5k for either

Yeah, i dont know if i like the hatchback. There is one here in asheville that is white. My buddy is the dentist of the owner and the guy told him he bought it cause he can fit his golf clubs in it. ( i have seen his r8 and his other ferrari but i guess they wont fit golf clubs :dunno ). Just doesnt do it for me. The brake rotors are the size of xlarge pizza's though!

Carbs are easy... well, easier than tuning old school fuel injection. If you want an E9 that is "original" then you want a carb, if you just want an E9 then you should plan on a M30B35 (from a '88-89 635) swap

FYI... he wasn't exactly allowed to do that. That's the section of the final straight that has a speed limit since it is the entry point. Maybe they closed the gate and gave him permission to run WOT since it was an official Koeniggseg test car/driver.

...and to give you an idea of how crazy that is, a 600hp+ E46 M3 GTR can't hit 200 in that same spot

although its cool, I would rather have the LaFerrari or the P1... that just is a reworked Aventador chassis with a bit too much Batman on in the background IMO. It's not really even a hypercar like the Ferrari and McLaren are, maybe 'just' a supercar.

The Gallardo is 10 years old and this is what they show up at Geneva with? I'm disappointed with the current direction that VW is moving with Lamborghini.

I saw pretty much this identical car drive by work the other day. It was clearly a garage queen - the whole exhaust looked brand new and I could see the flake in the paint from 30+ feet away :shifty

The only thing different was that the car I saw was a hardtop vert. I spied cinnamon guts too :drool

Beautiful color. I think brighter colors look a lot better on the newer BMW's than the older ones though.

As I recall, there were about 200 done in violet. Of 8k total Z1 production. There is actually a blue that is more rare. I imported 3 of them in '02 (violet, red, and green). Have since sold all. EAG has the violet at the moment but I don't think it's actively for sale. It was quite the conversation piece, no doubt about that. After the photo posted above (which was shot 10 years ago), I added Alpina wheels and a really nice true dual exhaust. The M20 motor is mounted relatively far back in the engine bay and it handles like a mid-engine car.
