Definitely couldn't spend that kind of money on that color. I'd never want a 991 (it's enormous), but if I did it'd be Mexico Blue or nothing.

I love the car's size and styling. It's just such a cool little car. That video captures the history of the car as well.

The want is strong.

There were a bunch of cool classics there, including the usual Aston Martin DB4, a handful of Jaguar E-types, a whole section of Austin-Minis, tons of vintage Packards, Buicks, etc. Some of my other favorites:

Terrible shot of a 1968 Triumph TR250. An update of the TR4, I believe it was only produced in 1968 before the TR6. It had a less powerful engine than the European TR5 due to emissions regulations (carburetors vs. mechanical fuel injection), but still a gorgeous car. The red one that is barely in frame is driven to Canada each year and rallied as well. The green one has been owned by the same owner since new.

1966 Sunbeam Tiger aka the poor man's Shelby Cobra. It's a British Sunbeam Alpine body with a Ford 260 cubic inch V8. This one is reportedly 1 of 6 in Commodore Blue.

1969 MG MGB. My father had basically this car when he was younger; same color, might be a year younger or older. My father noted that his car never looked this good, "not even when I saw one in the showroom"

I know, the Pacer is something else. Just looks like a spaceship and yet somehow perfectly from the 1970s. That's crazy you would see one on the road. I remember seeing one 10+ years ago, thought it was a POS because of how rusted out it was. And that TR250 is gorgeous. Both TR250s had Panasport wheels.

I've never had a personal connection to cars from my father's era, but I love how different design philosophy was back then. A relative lack of safety regulations meant you could make stunningly beautiful bodies, or cars that were light weight with only moderately powerful engines that were powerful enough to be quick and still have great handling characteristics. And the engine sounds. There's nothing like a classic Jaguar inline six or Italian four bangers.

Definitely glad I got to go and I learned a lot from my Dad while I was there. He's like a Wikipedia for cars up to 2000.

I went wine tasting with some friends out in Dundee, OR. The Oregon Porsche club of some sort passed through one of the wineries were were at. There was the usual mix of Porsches, but the real one that caught my eye was the red Porsche Cayman GT4 :drool (note the appropriate "GT4" vanity plate on "wine country" Oregon license plate)

So my brother-in-law spotted this car on NW 9th and Davis in Portland a few days ago. When he showed me pictures on his phone, all I could tell is that it was an AC of some sort, probably before the infamous Cobra. I finally got some time tonight to use my Google-Fu to figure out what this car was. It turns out it is a 1957 AC Ace, of which only a few hundred were ever made. In 1958 the original owner commissioned Zagato to create a one-of-a-kind lightened aluminum body so that the owner could race it in the Pescara rally. The car was later owned by Grand Prix driver Jo Siffert and at some point after his death in 1971 it became a part of the Rosso Bianco car collection in Germany. The current owners live in Portland.

I pray I get to see this car in person around town. It is a heart-achingly beautiful piece of machinery.

I'm really not sold on the looks department or much about it at all, but my favorite part is that it has an amazing engine life of 30,000 miles. Excluding gas, insurance, and other repairs, operational cost for that engine is ~$90/mile.

I don't think it looks like a Mercedes. More like an updated noble m600. This car is all about the drivetrain though. It will be interesting to see if this is quicker around a race track than the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

That was my reasoning. Nobody has said a definite no. The two Ferrari flickr groups didn't leave any raging comments. I would have to post it to a Ferrari forum. I tried checking for some of the same details online (3 slots, 3 holes in the front), but there's seems to be quiet a few different configurations of this car.

I meant not say “never REALLY.” I respect them, but they’re not really my thing. I liked the subtlety of the C6, but the C7 is a little too Batmobile for me. There’s a stereotype for Vettes (and their drivers) in the south which I think impacts my opinion. Freaking love the LS though—probably GM’s best contribution to the automotive industry as far as I’m concerned.

I encourage you to pursue your mullet aspirations. Don’t let your dreams be dreams!

yes.... i'm a little biased. ;)

they are handy. not only did i just take mine on a 1200km trip over the weekend, but hauled a wagon full of recycling, carried home 4 large buckets full of sand, and brought 300lbs of stuff home on the trip.

That first E9 looks spectacular. Interesting choice of wheels - but somehow, those E39 M5 wheels do work in that application.

The "stanced" one OTOH makes me want to puke. I'm not a fan of the entire concept, but on a newer car, I think it's a lot more acceptable/appropriate than on a classic older car like this one.

Thanks. For me the most time consuming part is sifting through the crappy ones (still working on my panning technique...I really should buy a monopod) and then deciding which ones are worth even opening in PS.

That's a two step process. First I go through the pictures on the camera, because if they look bad on that tiny screen there's no hope. Then I put them on the computer and start deleting again. It gets pretty bad when I use the continuous shutter mode. I usually keep way more than I should.

I tried my best to capture the M6's ridiculous turbo sounds, but it was really hard to isolate that car on track. Here's the best I could do during practice, with a bonus flyby from the R8 LMS GT3. Had to cut the video short, or else it would've ended with 10 seconds of the lady from Factory Porsche's ass accompanied by the sound of a V10 Audi.

And the unholy scream of the mid-engined banshee known as the 911 RSR. The #911 played bumper cars with a Corvette on the first lap and had to pit, so I was lucky to get a clip of it by itself during the race. I'm not sure if it gets any quieter the entire way up the Esses.

And the unholy scream of the mid-engined banshee known as the 911 RSR. The #911 played bumper cars with a Corvette on the first lap and had to pit, so I was lucky to get a clip of it by itself during the race. I'm not sure if it gets any quieter the entire way up the Esses.

Actually it's a 1998 I forgot that it's 2018. The Historic registration for this car is at least 20 years. And it's current two year registration expires 05/20 so my assumption is that it's a 1998 Lotus Esprit V8 (no turbos :()

When I was 11-12 years old our neighbor bought a brand new ‘99 Z3 coupe 2.8L. It was black on black with 17” Style 32s. We lived in a small neighborhood (30 houses, average value <$150k, less than 10 had garages) and it was by far the most expensive and flashiest car in the neighborhood. I just feel like the M is being thrown onto everything these days. Not to start a debate but IMO it’s now ///Marketing not ///Motorsport. I know, I know, it’s not just BMW. There’s Audi S-Line, pseudo AMG packages, and I still blame fricken Lexus F-Sport for starting the trend. The fact you can buy an “F-Sport” CT200h, which is just a fancier Prius wagon with 115hp and a CVT tranny, irks me to no end.

Someone on Reddit last year said their neighbor’s M-Sport 320i had more ///M badges from the factory than his F82.

Yup, the number of M badges on non M cars is too much for sure.

But at the same time I wouldn’t blame anyone who buys any newer MSport variant either, because it’s not them who decided to add too many M badges (although there are a few exceptions to this)

And then there’s me, who has a BMW M Nurburgring sticker on my rear windshield without having never been on the Nurburgring and also my car not being an M car :ducking because I thought the sticker looked nice. I tell myself I need to get rid of it but I keep forgetting to get a sticker remover when I got to autozone and it does not bothering me enough to go to the store just to get it...

I’ve messed around with the website builder and there’s an option to paint the side intakes body-color and (in my opinion) looks a lot better. My only real complaint with the C8 is the back looking like a Chinese knockoff Camaro butt.
