Round mirrors should have come from the factory, they look great on sedans.

They should be fully working if he did his retrofit using my DIY I posted back in 2013 Vas.

Just for reference for others who may be interested in doing this retrofit... here is the link: http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?9723-Retrofit-OEM-M3-side-mirrors-doityourself (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?9723-Retrofit-OEM-M3-side-mirrors-doityourself)

These look great. One of my favorite mods on my old ZHP. Probably my most expensive too after breaking an old ribbon cable. Good job!

Yeah everything is fully functional! And it's an awesome mod! Really happy the way they look and everything about them! They really change the car. Thanks everyone for showing love. This is a mod everyone should do! And it is pretty expensive.

It's not about competition but I would love to check out his ride though! [emoji1360] Not every day you get to see a RHD E46 ///M [emoji41] I think having more uniquely modded rides at a meet makes for a fun and enjoyable meet, don't you agree?

Does all year e46 M3 have the ribbon cable mirrors? if NOT which year ones do I need to get from a wrecked M3? thanks

OEM M3 side mirrors do not have ribbon cables.

You can use any year (2001-2006) E46 M3 side mirrors to retrofit to your BMW. Assuming you have a sedan (which is why you asked about ribbon cables) you will need to follow Rogue Engineering's Base Plate mod DIY so that the mirrors will mount correctly to your sedan. Then you will need to transfer your OE mirror motors into the M3 side mirror housing. This can be challenging but can be done...

I might be tackling this soon. I think I may of sourced some used mirrors on e46f. One of the best visual things you can do to the sedans imo!

totally agree! :thumbsup Of all the additional things BMW has done to make the ZHP, I feel this is one item BMW should not have left out... I think all ZHPs should have come with OEM M3 side mirrors...

Just a heads up.... this is not an easy mod to do. I can't stress enough to take your time when taking out the OE mirror motor (you might want to go thru my ZHPs project thread) and transferring it to the M3 side mirror housing... the ribbon strips from the mirror motor tend to rip easily and you can't repair them once they are ripped. Also remember to mod your mirror base plates or the side mirrors will not mount correctly.

I can attest to this as well. I ripped both of my ribbon cables... one of them ripped from merely trying to unplug it. My suggestion is to wrap some clear boxing tape around the first couple of inches of the cable to reinforce it.

Charlie was a big help to me when I did mine as well. Thanks Charlie!
Here's my post with my take on the project. http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?13196-M3-mirror-conversion-installed

One more thing to add.... I ended up pulling mine apart and replacing the adapter plates with plates from aluminum sheet as the plastic I used was too flimsy.
