View Full Version : Saying hello from Maine
Saying hi to all after purchasing a 2006 coupe. 37,00 miles- as clean as could be imagined. Never driven in rain. Sometimes I think of it as a big slab of cosmoline with a car resting on top of it.
The car is white over black, has the cold weather and premium packages, and xenon.
It replaces a Porsche 968.
Being the dead of winter, there are no photos yet, but y'all know these cars anyhow...
I'm very happy, and very pleased to have joined this group.
ON EDIT: found a photo from the dealer

With a metaphor like that, I think we can be friends.
Congrats and welcome.

Nice car. We have a few here that went BMW to Porsche.

Welcome! Very nice car...a good friend if mine is searching for the same color combination, but Alpine white ZHP's are difficult to find.

What are your plans for the car? Leave her stock and enjoy her on sunny days?

I'm hoping this can be an all-season car. I know it's not the highest, best use for it but that's where my budget is.
As to any changes: I am awaiting info from the dealer concerning an adaptor he uses and recommended, which brings bluetooth audio into the radio through, say, the CD changer port. I will install the aux input adaptor for 1/8" audio as well. I will make a few minor, all-but-invisible cosmetic changes, perhaps.
Otherwise I plan to lay low here for a while and get acclimated, esp. concerning mods. LSD would be very nice: I miss it. Don't know if strut tower braces accomplish much for the 330ci?
I must repeat my thanks to everyone for the very warm welcome.

it can definitely be an all-season car; i run mine as such and it even wears a roof rack + carrier at times, and will sport a trailer hitch and hitch-mounted bike rack this spring. also hoping to get to the track!
re: bluetooth, you could always get one of those eonon double-din units. it looks fairly OEM and does all of that modern stuff - i've been considering one.
LSD rocks. i have a front strut tower brace that seems to sharpen the front end a tiny bit.

Spyderchat. I came from an MR2 Spyder and loved that car till the end. There's just something about forums for rare specialty cars (ZHP included) that elicits better members--at least in my experience.

Welcome! Congrats on the car, looks great!
Love your area of Maine... hopefully getting up to Portland/Cumberland this summer to visit some good friends of ours. How's the winter up there treating you this year?
Not anywhere as poorly as last winter! Feel free to get in touch...

Welcome Dual, very nice ZHP!
Roughly where abouts in Maine are you located. I grew up in Maine and just moved to Cali a few years ago. My folks still live just outside of Portland. We have a place up at Sugarloaf as well. I've been hearing about the lack of snow up there often!
I grew up in Harpswell and now live in Cape Elizabeth, near Portland.
Two photos taken the day I got home with the car.
The grille is now white over black slats: dark "titanium" SportEdition A8 17" winter wheels were installed.

I would say "my pleasure" but it's coooold out there !

I much prefer the de-chromed grille look, even if it is an aftermarket product (Bimmian).
I did notice, however, that the factory grille parts have a shroud on the back, presumably to direct incoming air to the radiator. That is not present on the aftermarket units.
Apropos of nothing except the photo: when we first moved to this 1950's development (1985), the neighboring houses were an assortment of colors: blue, yellow, chocolate brown, green... one by one they repainted to variations on the putty color our house had when we bought it. By 2012 or so our little road was monochromatic. So we painted white... :facepalm

1. I think those white grilles look great. It suits the car well!
2. I like the gunmetal gray of the wheels, I think they also work well.
3. It's a shame Maine is like Oregon and requires a front plate. Really wish I could eliminate the front plate.
4. It's a shame that neighborhoods lose some of their history. The street I grew up on used to have a ton of different colored houses. It still does, but the number has definitely declined. So thankful there's no HOA here...

HOA = Home Owner's Association.
Those wheels were simply the cheapest thing I could find at TireRack*, and I wasn't certain I'd like them, but I'm completely sold...
*as mentioned in another thread I bought them to replace 16's I had purchased in error.

Sweet Lobster plate. I had the moose and pine tree one on my car when I first moved out here.
