So I was set on getting a set of Kosei K1 for AutoX/ daily since they are affordable and very light but I've never been fully set since I read many stories about cracking and bending easily. Anybody here have any personal experience? A lot of the stories are old so it may have been a production issue? Ive also been looking at the TrMotorsports C2 since I like the look (reminds me of SSR) and the price ($145 vs $175) but they are a 2lbs heavier per wheel. I like both designs but I lean more towards the Kosei even though they look better on E36s. Both of these would be wrapped on BFG G Force Rival 255-40-17 since they are on clearance :thumbsup
Help me make my mid up!

I don't have any experience with either, but I think the Kosei K1 still looks plenty good on an E46.

There is also a certain group buy for 17in Apex Arc-8s which look a lot better...

I can't believe I never saw that picture. I looked everywhere for more pics but I didn't look smartly on the site haha.
I found this on another forum I'm on with the C2s. So torn!

As for the Apex, I don't think they'll get to 150$ off. . I'm looking to spend under 1200 and those will most likely be over with tires. I'll keep an eye out for the group buy.

That's my car with the K1's that William posted. I've had those wheels for over 5 years now. One of them cracked last summer when I lent it to my friend. I've been told these do tend to crack - of course I've been told this AFTER it cracked. If I knew ahead of time, I wouldn't have bought the wheels. I did buy them new and have seem almost strictly autox/track duty since I've had them, but my friend needed a set of wheels for daily driving temporarily and it's in those conditions that the wheel cracked, so I don't know if it would have cracked otherwise if they had stayed on nice smooth track paved surfaces...
For looks - they're 'OK'. The reason for purchase was because I needed a dedicated set of track wheels. I was never really a big fan of them. The reason I chose those particular wheels was because they were 17x8.5", and being light was a plus. Most importantly, they were CHEAP - they were in the $700's out the door, brand new.

They do look a lot better - and are a pretty penny more expensive, as well...
If I had to do it again, I'd choose the ARC-8's.

Thanks for your input. I really like the way they looked on your car. Unfortunately it's not what I was hoping to hear. My wheels would see both track/ daily NYC activities. If I go for the ARC-8 they'll be at least 300$ more in the end and I could use that in upgrading to coils. I wish light wheels would pop up more on te used market...

NYC? You might as well walk, because whatever wheels you get will almost certainly end up being destroyed. :(
NYC is the bane of my existence.

Oh it's not that bad. With the 7 cars I've had, I only bent one wheel and that was with my first car. You create a sixth sense living there haha.

Every time I drive through that wretched place, something on my car breaks. Forgive me when I say "I don't believe you" to the "it's not that bad" comment. lol
Talk about some of the least maintained roads I've driven on... the highways are total crap. Even the repaved sections are bumpy as hell!

I must be lucky lol. I've been in New Paltz for the past two years but I'll be going back come May. It takes a lot of dedication/idiocy to mod and be an enthusiast in NYC
So it looks like the C2s would be a better bet. I'm just not in love with them..

I was wrong. They reached the 150$ off. I guess I'm buying apex. Now should I do 17x9 or 17x8.5 hmm

8.5" will be more than plenty for your use.
There aren't any grip issues running 245/255 wide tires all around in my case. Just run good quality tires.
