View Full Version : Group Buy Thread: What could potentially be next?

BADCLOWN

I threw the feeler thread out and it seems like theres a few items that generally everyone would be interested in. I probably should have done this from the get go but have never posted a "poll" on the boards before so this took me a little to figure out. Vote on the poll, if you don't see your option listed below select "other" and post up your "other" suggestion. I can spear head any group buy if needed, but if anyone has connections with suppliers and what not, thats always appreciated.

Poll selection is limited to one option/vote as I would like it to be accurate as to everyones feelings about whats at the top of their list.

FCPEuro - WILLING TO PARTICIPATE depending on the item
Khoalty - GB of 40 pairs of lenses minimum at 20% off

Coby wraps - does not participate in GBs
Tire Rack - does not participate in GBs
Discount Tire - does not participate in GBs
ECSTuning - does not participate in GBs

Damn....got to read more carefully. Brake pads was my first preference, didn't see the 'brake components' selection (duh!) so I clicked on 'other'. Like I said, damn!

Edit: Also, I could spearhead a another G.A.S. buy of the DISA kits, but as before, since I'm in the same state as G.A.S. I'd have to pay the 6% sales tax on them. Kind of negates the savings, but we found a way around it before and can do it again, I'm sure!

as far as a group buy I would rather opt out due to the various options/items/colors etc. that may be wanted (no 2 alike)
but please contact me in regards to wheel packages as I will be happy to work out some kind of package price for the "Family"

Thanks

Added a vote for VANOS/DISA. I know I'll need the VANOS kit soon. This option seemed the most realistic since it's standard for all our cars. Just too many options/preferences on tires and brakes, which would have been my other preferences.

Just thinking through a few other options

Mishimoto Silicone Boots?
http://www.mishimoto.com/bmw-e46-323-325-328-intake-hose-kit-99-05.html

Mishimoto Aluminum Expansion tank? Currently theres a pre-sale going on anyway, I don't believe they'd offer an extra group buy discount for us anyhow
It fits with Stock Fan Shroud, & Radiator, & Hoses - though they offer a Mishimoto branded variations of all 3 parts for our cars.

Dinan CAI via FCPEuro GB? or would we better off getting it directly through Dinan since you get points towards a Dinan Badge lol :headband

I capitalized on Mikes offer for the Alcantara shift knobs a few nights ago, I got black Alcantara with a brand new 6 Speed Badge :cigar

Cobywheel Alcantara ZHP shift knobs are 115$ plus shipping

TLDR;

I wanted a 4300K LED CANBUS 9006 Bulb, it was possible with the help of my buddy but he has to buy 20 sets to make them. He will have a few sets of 9006 available for purchase. :)

Specs:

Color Temp: 4300K <---- this is the major selling point. I don't see any 4300K LED fogs anywhere.
Lumens: 2500
CANBUS Error-Free: yes
Bulb Size: <waiting on my friend for this> I think he will only purchase a few sets of 9006 and mainly H11/H8 (He owns a VW MK6)
Warranty: 1 Year Warranty
Price: <waiting on this as well> Bimmian sells it for $119 so I expect something lower but not by much since its a small volume purchase.

Bimmian makes a nice LED error-free CANBUS bulb that uses a very cool ribbon heatsink instead of fans or crazy heatsink resistors.

https://bimmian.com/Accessories-for-BMW/Lighting/Fog-and-Head-Lights/Illustro-LED-Headlight-Fog-Light-Bulb/

http://i.imgur.com/yJk14TVl.png

After talking to my pal, he said he found a chinese/taiwanese supplier that makes something like this and he bets it is THE supplier for the one made for bimmian/weisslicht. He contacted the supplier and they were willing to make 4300K versions as long as my buddy buys at least 20. The talks went during Chinese New years and there was some miscommunication and they sent him a 4700K 9006 instead of 4300K. My buddy is working to make sure they can make 4300K and based on his communication with them it looks like he will be making an order of 20 sets.

Since Bimmian already has a page explaining it all, I'll just shorten the reason I wanted these:

Ribbon heatsink allows for possibility for headlight options
Error-Free was a big feature for CANBUS cold check things like my TDI
The LED is about 2500lumens with the 2 LEDs on the 9006. Bimmian says up to 3000 lumens but that is for a hi/Lo option (which is not part of this bulk order)

Here are the pictures of the sample I tried out last night.

Keep in mind I tested 4700K sample not the final 4300K color desired.

4300k is closer to day light and I think the OEM xenon's are the same color temperature. The higher the temperature the lower the brightness and more blue

Sorry I want to clarify. The sample was mistaken shipped as 4700K and is a little bluer than the 4300K (OEM Color for Xenons). I noticed most Angel eyes ship with 6000K now and It seems manufacturers are going this route as well.

That being said, the sample is a 4300K will be warmer than the blue hue that the 4700K sample is showing. The TDI is showing the same bulb installed as the ZHP.
