PARTING OUT 2005 ZHP SEDAN - AUTOMATIC

I’m just about finished parting out my son’s 2005 ZHP sedan. He purchased the car from its original owner in San Diego in Nov 2013 with 55K miles. It was a garage kept beauty. In May of 2015 he lost control while driving aggressively and hit a tree dead-on in the center of the grille. He is OK but the car was totaled. At the time of the accident, the car had just turned 83K miles. The car was near perfect before the accident (see before and after pictures below).

All parts are available for sale with the exception of the engine and the wheels. We serviced the auto transmission & differential shortly after purchase as preventative maintenance; the transmission shifts perfectly. The differential and driveshaft were replaced by BMW of Encinitas at 35K miles due to excessive “humming” (have receipt), so they are low mileage too. No humming noticed during our ownership. Exterior is Sliver Grey metallic; Interior is Black Alcantara in very good to excellent condition. Black cube interior moldings. Car was nicely optioned with: Cold Weather package (heated seats, fold down rear seat with ski/bag, rear arm rest), Factory NAV, Park Distance Control, Xenon headlights.

Thanks, me too. Driving too aggressively around a corner, hit the right rear against the curb, shot across two lanes of a divided road and hit a eucalyptus tree in the center median. No one else involved thankfully. Surprisingly, the left and right front fenders are still perfect. Hit dead square in the middle of the grille/hood. Airbag deployed. Called me within minutes... "Hey Dad, what are doing now??" LOL! I'm thankful for a well built car that can take a pop. It was his car. He paid for it. Got $12K settlement from the insurance company and used $8K to by a 2001 530i 5 speed. Driving slower now...

I'm looking forward to installing the ZHP engine from the wreck into my 2001 530i 5 speed. I couldn't sleep last night thinking how to get a header system to pass CA smog. Wyatt (wertyu78) has offered to help me work on and document the install of my ZHP engine into a 2001 530i 5 speed. Have already picked up a set of the earlier e39 factory headers (from a 1998 528i) and exhaust system (with cats), and a good used Remus rear muffler. I've also purchased the Valeo flywheel clutch assembly to replace the stock clutch/flywheel, and am planning to install the e60 545i shifter to shorten the throws a bit while maintaining stock feel (as I've read). I'm hoping that the 2001 ECU will recognize and accept the signals from the O2 sensors (different placement on the early e39 exhaust system... further downstream) without throwing a CEL.
