I was just looking at this. Looks like a really clean ZHP. It's too bad there aren't any interior pictures.

Is it me or is it missing the shark fin in the third photo. Also, what is "Porsche camel two tone leather?"

I lol'd.
Whatever it is, it is rare and therefore special.

I've been emailing the seller on this one. I'm new to this forum and joined because I want to buy a ZHP for the first time and thought the membership here would be able to help me. Seller says it's his dad's and is a 9/10 inside and out. One of my concerns is the color. I have mixed feelings on the red but the camel interior I assume is a darker tan which looks nice. Opinions?
Imola is a really nice color.

My car is Imola. It originally came with the cloth/alcantara interior. I've looked for the Natural Brown interior for a few years before I got my hands on a set, and I can say that I have absolutely no regrets. I've gotten nothing but compliments on it. It is a gorgeous color combo.

These pics also show the difference between black and silver cube trim combos, since I have both sets and I switched from silver to black once I got this interior installed.

Imola is easily the best color you can get these things in...not too bright and obnoxious during the day and really comes to life as the sun dips into the horizon, almost a blood red that changes as golden hour passes evoking a sensual dance of colors that leaves one saying "damn...look at that car" quite a bit. The Natural Brown interior is like the Persian Camel Tow cherry on top and complements it very well. BP should post some pics! :thumbsup

I bought a silver set in this forum back in summer. Asking price was $400 with s/h.

As for actual advice, PaRambler, I'd see if the seller to find out what maintenance has been done, what maintenance records they have, see if you can get some more photos directly from them in a higher resolution (including interior photos), ask if it has been in any accidents, how many owners the car has had, etc.
If that all checks out, and you agree on a price, set up a pre-purchase inspection at a local mechanic (PPI) and work from there.

I have to say, since investigating this color combo I'm really liking it. I've looked at every picture I can find on the internet. I'm pursuing this car further. I've asked D1esel to check it out as he had offered and he excepted the mission. Hats off to this forum and it's members. Exactly what I was hoping for. I've never bought a car long distance so I'm trying to cover all my bases at the risk of having it bought out from under me. I'm not a BMW aficionado so all help and opinions are appreciated.

Cool, hope it goes well!
Let us know what the seller says about the history of the car. Maintenance that should be looked at by that mileage will include the cooling system (critical), suspension (bushings, shocks/struts), spark plugs, belts, pulleys, fluid flushes (differential, transmission, brake, etc). There's more to consider but those are the quick ones E46-specific ones.

Thanks Curves. Will run those questions by the seller and see if they're documented.

If those items haven't been done recently (about every 60k miles for the cooling system), then use it as a bargaining chip to negotiate the price down.

Can you give me a dollar figure on the cooling system?

$500-600 in parts including replacing the radiator. Another $5-600 for labor, depending on where you go.

+1. I hope it works out.

Thanks ELCID. I have another question. Owner told me it has Premium Package, M Package and Performance Package. Are they standard or options on a ZHP?

I'll let others who are more versed answer. Performance Package is the "ZHP" stuff. Certainly not an M, but M-sport.

Premium is not standard; it was an option. There is no such thing as the "M Package" in the U.S.
ZHP is the option code for Performance Package; they are one in the same.

Thanks ELCID. I have another question. Owner told me it has Premium Package, M Package and Performance Package. Are they standard or options on a ZHP?
The Non-M E46 in the US came with (I believe) only four package options:
Cold Weather (internal code "ZCW")
Premium (ZPP)
Sport (ZSP)
Performance (ZHP)
There was an M-Sport package that gave similar looking aero parts, but that was reserved for other countries as the Performance package was not an option anywhere else apart from Canada. The Performance Package superseded the Sport Package.
That said, I would get the VIN and use that to see what options the car has for yourself. Use the last 7 digits and plug it into a BMW VIN decoder (just search "BMW VIN" in google). If you find it has something along the lines of "headlight washers," it has the Cold Weather Package, and if it has "lumbar" support, it has the Premium Package.

The Performance Package superseded the Sport Package.
It did not supersede; the Sport Package (ZSP) was still available alongside the Performance Package (ZHP) through production end.

I should rephrase: if chosen, the Performance Package superseded the Sport Package i.e. you could not have both options simultaneously.
