Found these while browsing, looks eh but I wonder if there as heavy as the OEM Plush Matts, or cheap ebay junk that's super thin and lightweight

I like the OEM matts weight, they just look great to me but these are a cool alternative too - I figured I'd bring it to someones attention lol

The quality to me looks better than OE...
I had the OE carpet mats in my car when I bought it and they were trashed, with only 75k on them. The velcro pieces were tearing off the bottom along with the bottom layer of material.
The mats you linked to look like the velcro pieces are attached to the rubber bottom, which looks sturdier. Plus, the rubber bottom on them make them gripper as well than the OE ones. I just wish they weren't so much money...

those look pretty nice. looks like they ship from lithuania.

i bought some new mats from bimmian last spring. not impressed. after one summer of use, the driver's mat looked about 10 years old.

I like (a lot!) the mats I ordered from Cocomats. Not cheap, but the fit, quality, and appearance are excellent.

Yeah these look awesome, I wish the shipping wasn't an arm & a leg.
I almost wanna contact the seller and say that theres at least 3-4 other people who wanna purchase them

I almost ordered these, but decided on OEM instead - doesnt look like they have the reinforced heel area on the drivers side mat

My car only had 41k-some miles on it, and the mats were mostly detached from the hold-downs because of that torn foam bottom. That's another very cheap, disappointing BMW feature. The GM mats that came in my H3 are pretty nice, and considering the beating they've taken, still look pretty nice.

That rubber could be a pretty light foam rubber material, but it couldn't possibly be any worse than that foam crap on the OE mats.

Agreed.

That would be awesome if we could get a group buy going! I don't know if it would be worth the hassle, but maybe if we could get 8 or 10 of us together to all order, maybe we could get enough of a deal on the mats that it would offset the shipping.

One thing I noticed they don't address... Aren't the rear mats different between coupes and sedans? - EDIT: Nevermind, it looks like they have a separate auction for coupe mats.

No heel pad on those Ebay mats - MAJOR fail, I'd dig a hole in those in about 6 months. The OEM mats aren't all that spectacular either, pretty flimsy if you ask me. My M5 came with a brand new set of OEM's, but I replaced them immediately with Cocomats, which I've had in my last 5 cars or so, over the last decade. Absolutely the highest quality mat money can buy, better than anything I've ever seen, and they look spectacular - pictures do them no justice.

I had these in my 99 M-Technic and they were really nice and if I remember correctly they had the reinforced heal. It's funny when I picked up the ZHP a couple of months ago I was trying to find these and couldn't. Too bad I already ordered new matts

Looks like there's some interest, and I'd like to give them a try. I'll message them and see what kind of discount we could get on half a dozen sets. I'll also ask about shipping them all to me to see what kind of gain we could make that way. Paying $40 to ship $85 worth of mats is just silly.

Cheers,

Sent them a message and requested our price on at least 6-8 sets as A) a group purchase with individual shipping and B) a group purchase with ship to a single address. I'll update when I hear back.

I had the same idea, I was gonna say 5 people x 85$ + 40$ for shipping to one address = 465$
Divided by 5 = 93$ a person to get them to one U.S based address
then hopefully shipping locally won't be so much money, fingers crossed we hear back with good news!

Thanks @Ecrabb for being so proactive, I was gonna contact them myself! Maybe they can offer some kind of discount

OK, so he responded very quickly:

Hello, yes we can make good offer with group purchase 8 pcs of floor mats
normal price is 85+ 40 shipping, total 680 + 320 shipping

for 8 sets we can make you 560 usd + 170 usd shipping

$680 to $560 is almost a 20% discount, so that's a nice concession for only qty 8. He didn't quote me two different options on shipping though, and evenough the shipping is almost half (which made me assume it was to a single address) I asked for clarification, and he responded:

Total price with shipping will be 730 usd
So, I'm pretty sure that is indeed to ship to a single address.

So, $730 is just over $90/ea. That's great, but then we'd no doubt be in for another $20/ea (for 7) to ship UPS or FedEx ground, which puts us all-in at just under $110 - aka within $15 of the original price, or about a 12% discount.

It's hard to believe it's that expensive to ship a stack of eight mats internationally, but it may be. I know international is stupid expensive.

I can get boxes from our warehouse for free, but it looks like we'll have to do more quantity before it makes sense.

Open to additional thoughts, though.

SC

These would be awesome under 100$ honestly, it sucks that after the hassle of getting them here we only save 12% roughly
I wonder if theres a cheaper form of shipping in the continental US so we all save a few bucks more, Christmas funds are running low at the moment lol! :caseyshrug

Agreed. I was probably a little gung ho on these since I can't truly justify only a 12% discount for carpets I don't need. Sigh...

I kinda felt like it wasn't worth the hassle for me (or anybody else) given the modest savings and how many of us are interested.

I guess we could get a show of hands first to see how many of us want to pull the trigger. You and I make 2.

Who else?

The eBay link on post #1 says $139 with free s/h. Just saying.

Wow, they just jacked the price up significantly, then. As of last night, it was $85 w/$40 s/h, or $125 total, making our $110-115/ea deal of questionable utility. Now it's $139 w/free shipping. If they'll still honor the price they quoted me, then it just got to be a way better deal. Looks like a ploy to get us to move. ;)

I definitely wouldn't pay $140, though. $125 was right at the edge of what I'd want to spend.

This reminds of the scene at the beginning of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles when Steve Martin is negotiating with the guy for the cab. "Surely, anybody who would spend $125 for a set of mats would also spend $139..." "Don't be so sure!"
