Wanted: front spring

Weird request - I want to fabricate a setup to use my 20-ton shop press as a spring compressor. I have an old strut I can use for testing/fitting, but I need a spring to go with it. Any condition (short of broken) should work. Anybody got an old or odd spring laying around?

I probably/likely have a rear e30 spring laying around, would that work? I also have a e30 front strut and spring.

John, I think it'll have to be a front spring - don't know if an e30 spring would fit an e46 strut, but if you had a strut/spring combo, that would work!
