Guys, I finally found one local enough to look at and drive next week. My guess is it was a trade and a higher end reseller bought it. One owner, appears to be decent. Vin is WBABD53465PD99682, dealer is Luxury Imports in Geneva, IL. Running the Vin seems like it has most of the desirable options. My concern is the mileage, but we shall see.

Thanks Ed

Why is this a concern? That mileage is nothing.

Edo....your concern should be how well maintained this car was, not mileage. If the car has been very well maintained throughout it's life then mileage is just a number...

Thanks guys. You are both correct, my concern is what has been done (or not) to date. Lower mileage cars, say in the 60 range would have some time before cooling and suspension will either need attention or hopefully dealt with.

Actually, with the example of the cooling system, it would need to be done if they haven't already. The youngest E46 is now 9 years old, and plastic/rubber doesn't last forever (expansion tank is a known failure item, the plastic neck of the radiator, hoses aging, thermostat housing is plastic).

I would budget for a cooling system if there are no records of it.

I rather own a higher Mileage maintained car then a lower Mileage car with no records

It's a good price, however there is an accident reported on carfax back in 2007. Also the driver seat bolster as about to rip through and there is a dent in the rear bumper.

I added the vin to the zhp registry.

I went and looked it over. Mainly, because I had never driven one before. Really liked the way it drove. Still tight despite what appears to be original struts. The interior was pretty clean for a car that was driven year round. Tires look they would need replacement fairly soon. The right side of the air dam is loose and the inner fender liner worn thru from tire contact at some point. I would give the paint a 6/7, with numerous spots that need attention.

In summary, I guess I am picky. Not much in the way of records other than a thermostat and water pump.
