Remotes stopped working

About 2 weeks ago the remote functions on my wife's key stopped working. Car is 8 years old now so I figured it just died. Well, now today my key stopped working.

Is it possible they both dies so close together?

Or is it possible they are no longer charging while driving?

Any way to test for either?

I did the procedure in the link to get my spare key working again. As I recall, it took about five attempts before successfully reprogramming the key. I immediately then re-did my primary key following the same sequence and it took on the first attempt. Happy keys, happy car computer, happy owner.

Thanks guys, I tried the method above to re-initialize the keys but didn't have any luck.

I wonder if a lock shop can test it somehow?

You may consider sending him an email describing your problem as he knows everything about BMW key fobs and their programming issues.
