depends on condition... it's listed as a 1-owner car, so you never know.

All depends on condition of course.

actually, it does. botond, i've owned almost 30 cars in my 20 years of driving... and looked at way more than that during the buying process. :) and, statistically - the 1-owner cars are always the best. it's because the owners expect to keep it for a long time and they take care of it. when cars change hands often... stuff invariably gets either repaired badly or not repaired at all. i've looked at a lot of poorly-repaired multi-owner cars.
i will always go and check out the 1-owner cars first.

I disagree. There are lots of 1 owner cars out there that still aren't treated the way they should be. I look through the classifieds on occasion for cars I might be interested in and have found numerous "1 owner cars" that have obvious cosmetic and/or mechanical flaws and few maintenance records, just like any car that could have been owned by 2 or 3 people. Not all the folks who are the original owner even follow any sort of maintenance schedule, just fix stuff when it breaks.
I'm just saying that "1 owner car" should be taken with a grain of salt and isn't indicative of anything.
I hope this Oxford car was well taken care of for whoever ends up buying it. Considering the owner knows how rare this color combo is, I'm hoping s/he put in the required maintenance keep the car a worthy purchase.

I was so relieved when I was living in Philly and I found my '03 330Ci and it didn't have rust. My father had hammered into me when I moved out there that it was very likely any car I look at would have rust if they ran it in the winter.

pics are up. however...there is something fishy about it. the owner is in NYC, the car is somehow in florida. undercarriage pics are on a transport truck.
looks OK, but there is definitely some wear - notably paint (front end is especially 'dull'), headlight lenses, strange wear marks on driver's door panel, etc. this would be a restoration candidate, and with those miles, would not be an investment. :)
that said, if restored it could be a nice keeper. but all of that depends on price.

$15,000 was a good price ... many thousands miles ago.
az3579
09-03-2015, 11:59 AM
Price is way too high but I can tell you from experience, the front is only dull because of the miles. My front bumper looks like it's almost pink due to all the road rash on it... so at least that matches the mileage claim.
I'm shocked those seats are so nice. Mine have far less miles on them but are in way worse shape... overall this car looks extremely nice for having so many miles! I'd totally offer him like $8k for it... purely because of rarity of colors and overall condition.

I bought many cars from the auction for the past 12yrs since I used to run a used car dealer in SoCal, found some minty E46's even as late as 2012 so it's out there.. my guess is this was traded to a franchise store and was sent directly to the Auction for disposal. Not having maintenance history does not really bother me since I pulled the trigger on my Alpine without one at 90k and sorted out the mechanicals myself with the help of my friends. The price is the big question here, I would personally buy it at 10-11k with mileage being irrelevant and will put a lot of effort with the mechanical upkeep. Has lots of potential and would look great identical to my alpine sedan if the price is right.

Book on this car through Manheim in excellent shape is a hair over $7k which would put retail definitely under $10k

And to be fair even though it's a cool color combo, that isn't enough to mark up a super high mileage car more than a couple hundred bucks.
If it had 35k on it, sure it might get more of a collector status.

Plus he probably got it really cheap at auction given the mileage, so with that asking price he's basically just being greedy and trying to find a sucker to rip off. Even if he sells at the $7-8K range he'd probably still be getting a very nice profit.
Not paying $12k for it either

Yeah seriously. Not like the auction service would care at all about the things he's peddling to us enthusiasts. They just see high mileage 3 series...probably 3-4k.

Whatever, he'll sit on it till he lowers the price accordingly. Even if I HAD to have that car in my collection, I wouldn't pay a dime over $9k for it. I don't care that its 1 out of 7 made. It's not an Enzo, it's a ZHP. We love them but we also understand their place in the hierarchy of "collectible" cars.

true. and he is wrong about his stats. according to our data there was 23 oxford green cars made, 8 with natural brown interior, 5 of those being a 6-speed manual. interestingly enough, canada got zero oxford green cars.

especially with that mileage. the dent on the LR wheel arch is concerning as well.

Good morning guys from South, FL. I finally got time to sign up. I've been observing the past couple days of guys just posting negative comments. I am the owner of the car. With all do respect, if your not interested in the car, why post all of the negativity? It clearly has an asking price that is negotiable. If you don't have anything positive to say, please keep your opinions to yourself just as I would respectfully for your thread, thank you!

hi, thanks for chiming in. however, this is not your thread. :)

to be fair, when this thread was created, that was not listed in the ad; the first post in that ad/thread on E46F has been modified several times.
also, if i may add on to that... the headlight lenses are trivial. with no detailed maintenance history, any prospective owner here would be easily in for $2K worth of initial maintenance to bring it up to spec - so a set of $80 headlight lenses is not really a big deal.

I'm not saying "I created this thread," even though the vehicle I am selling is involved in this thread, but in general as for respecting anyones thread no matter who started it.
If you believe there was no negativity, thats fine lol.
As for the headlight lens, it has been in the ad originally, just the format and information was changed.
On E46Fanatics, the autocheck history and mycarfax maintenance history is there for interested buyers/lookers and like it says, the car has been maintained by "Northwest BMW" ever since 2 miles on the odometer until the current mileage.
