ZHP Ownership Advice

By next year, I'm planning to get ZHP within the budget of 11k. How do you keep your ZHP running? How much should I prepare for maintenance, complete overhaul? Thanks in advance :)

That's about what I've spent on parts to overhaul my cooling system, change out all my fluids, plugs, etc and get new shocks (still haven't installed these yet). Mind you, I've DIYed everything so far, so consider a larger chunk of change if you plan to take it to a mechanic to have the work done.

They are solid cars that are not hard to work on. Just get the maint up to spec (there are known weak points) and you'll be fine. GL!

The many maintenance threads will provide you with all the info you need to know but as far as maintenance goes here is a rough rundown of what you should ask regarding what's been done or what needs to be done depending on mileage:

Cooling system (fans, radiator, pump, expansion tank, Tstat)
The "octopus" - ccv system
Fcabs
Fluid flushes
DME updates to get rid of various rpm issues


I'm missing a bunch but that's some of the major stuff, then you start dabbling into brakes, spark plugs, all filters, bushings, all the normal stuff

I've spent a little over $2000 in parts & labor on mine in the past year and a half and that was for full brakes and rotors, fcabs, fuel pump, oil changes, full cooling system (minus radiator), coilovers and a few other things. I'm at 118k miles and she's running strong.

Just like everyone else is saying, keep up with the maintenance and these cars will go forever.
