Hey all

I am not 100% sure of the black cube on Nat Brown interior. I saw the picture below and that Birch wood look awesome on Natural Brown. What you guys think. Would I still be able to get the Birch Trim or should I stay with black cube

Yeah I am soo tempted to order one from the dealer or where ever I can get my hands on one. I like keeping the car true to being a ZHP and leave the black cube, but that interior is soooo tempting

I really like the contrast.

I'm not a fan of the texture/design. Go for something smoother, but still with a good contrast.

Black cube looks great with Natty brown, but... Birch with natty brown is classy as fawk!

If my car wasn't a ZHP I'd probably source birch trim and run that. I have silver currently, carried over from when I had my alcantara interior. Wish I didn't have a missing piece from my black cube set, otherwise I'd run that instead. Old pic with the silver:

Totally gorgeous that birch over natural brown. Rare too.

What piece are you missing BP? I do like that combo skywalker. Normally I don't like the wood trim in a zhp as it doesn't quite match up the "sport" factor, but this looks good with that interior.

Passenger dash. I had to use it to spray it silver when I did the silver cube retrofit, since I broke the original silver cube one.

I might have an extra one, I'll check. Would it be the same coupe/vert vs. sedan for that particular piece?

Yes, as a matter of fact it would. :)
It's the piece that goes on the dash, to the right of the center radio trim, which is the same for all E46's.

That looks great! There's a seller on EBay.UK that has stuff like this, but its like $800 shipped.

The light wood doesn't work for me. I would prefer a darker wood to contrast with the Natural Brown seats. But to each their own!

You'd probably get the standard wood trim then.

Ew that looks awful. There are so many other trims that would flow better than the Myrtle Wood trim.

You want a darker wooden trim, try the Birch Anthracite Wood trim. Rare, expensive and sexy as hell.

My NB interior that I bought came with the Myrtle Wood trim. I installed it just to see what it would look like and it really didn't look bad at all. I'm not a fan of the wood trim with other interiors, but it actually look decent with NB in person, assuming the trim is in phenomenal shape, which this was. I do agree, the anthracite birch is much better, but is far too hard to find and costs too much, kind of like the light birch being discussed in the OP.

I love the wood trim in more of a luxury car, and I do love light birch in general, but it just doesn't feel right in the ZHP to me. Doesn't say "sports car" as much as it says "luxury car". The anthracite does look awesome, though.

I LOVE NB, though. Some day... I will have an M3 in either Mystic Blue or Sparkling Graphic with Natural Brown leather. Some day.

My IR came with wood trim. One of the POs replaced the cube trim for some reason. In the beginning of my ownership, it was on my to-do list: buy cube trim and install.

Four months later, I like wood trim and the idea has gone to the back burner.

More like never, because it's actually cinnamon, not natural brown. [emoji4]

Sorry, I'm just being a bitch. Haha.

Anthracite would be awesome. The Light Birch w/ NB looks pretty darn good, though. Either one looks custom, though to anyone not used to seeing it so does cube trim.

Standard Dark Myrtle, not so much. Too common, and personally the only color interior I like it on is Sand Beige. Gray or Black non-ZHP's interiors should have come with Anthracite. But, I guess the standard dark wood was a sign of the times. Looking very dated to me now.

Having had a 325 with Myrtle for a number of years before getting the ZHP w/ Black Cube, I'm really happy with the sportier look of the cube. But, I can see how one might want to freshen things up after living with it for a while.

ECS tuning says they have the birch trim set, and doesn't seem too pricy. If I get that I might sell the black cube. I also have an M3 so making the ZHP more on the Sport-Luxury side.

The light birch set is SUPER cheap right now... well below $300, FYI.

Really!? That's a solid price! All the e46 stuff is being liquidated I guess.

Not necessarily; the regular wood trim is far more money, and the silver/black cube sets have been in the mid 400's for a while now. Standard aluminum trim is still in the 500's.

Or, maybe you're right, and these are the "liquidated" prices. lol
They were a lot more expensive, and still are, from the dealer even now...
